VCDS: couple errors and something to tackle on B/H weekend?

Post by c3nturi0n » Fri Aug 23, 2019 1:44 pm

hi gents,

hope all is well... i recently re-run VCDS on my car and i noticed couple errors that have been on the car last time i run the scan.

Has anyone got any suggestions how to tackle them especially one under module 17 - Instruments?

Thanks.

1. J197 Level control - this is the headlight levelling control and it is a small arm (6in) on the front and rear left side suspension which leads to a small black box. The arm moves with the suspension and the black box reads that motion and uses it to move the headlight beam up/down.

2. KombiInstr - This is the dash cluster, look like your may have been replaced with another. They are coded to the car to try to prevent "clocking" as the cluster hold the mileage info but it means that a genuine swap also causes the same message - no idea how you "code" it to your car though.

Just makes sure you delete these messages and then recheck to see if they come back so that they aren't a dormant stored code from a while ago.

cheers Ian.

Are they known to go faulty or could this be an intermittent one?

e.g. it does come up pretty much every time i run the scan at two/three week intervals.
