hi all,

my next job is to replace brake fluid before summer pan-Euro trip... I can always go for OEM but was wondering are there alternative (e.g. better) solutions out there that i should consider?

ps. car is on std steel discs / Audi OEM pads.

thanks.

I've used ATE Typ200 'Super Blue' on my cars for years. Then when I change I alternate to 'Super Gold so you can see when the new stuff comes through. Always keeps a little blue ting though.

Its not expensive and has pretty good results over standard fluids. Most fluids which are DOT 5.1 are good - just make sure you get either DOT4 or 5.1 (glycol based) and NOT DOT5 (which is silicone based) as they are not really used for modern applications.

Cheers, that’s very helpful.

And do you know by any chance what quantity is needed to flush the system and replenish?

It could be as little as 1 litre, but I suggest getting 2 just to be sure.
