Intake manifold

afternoon,

i was wondering had anyone ever attempted to remove intake manifold on C6? and was wondering how big of a job that is and whether there are any gotcha's or items to be aware of before even contemplating on the idea of doing it?

Reason i'm asking is that number of rubber seals / O-ring types are prone to failure (especially on oil coolers) hence was thinking of checking the state of mine first.

Thanks and look forward to your feedback.

It's not that bad. There are two water pipes at the rear off the plenum that you'll need some jubilee clips to refit as the audi ones are the clamp up type. The pastiche pipes clipped to the rear can be brittle so may snap, likewise some of the plastic breathers. The red seals on the inlet are reusable. You need to remove the throttle bodies to get access to the plenum bolts. That's it really.

Its advised to do a throttle body recalibration in VCDS after refitting it all btw. I've put it back together without before and it did still work, though advised.

Why are you removing it in the first place?

Curiosity... would like to see whatโ€™s under and to check on the status of those seals / o-rings and other rubbery parts ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Those intake seals are as cheap as chips, may as well replace, think I paid 7.25 for a set

As I understand you only need recalibrate your throttle bodies if you have changed a throttle body or got them mixed up on reinstalling the pair. If its one out one in in same place you will be fine without doing this.

Having said that it is very easy to do if you have VCDS.....

Yup i do... will take it to the garage next week for them to inspect and replace couple O-rings. Car is also due for an MOT so will do both at the same time.

Thanks for a tip though!
