The Gearbox speed sensor runs out of input resolution at 217mph so the display can't show greater than that but the needle should still be able to move.

As calculated, a 7k rpm limit in 6th gear on stock tyres etc would make for a 250mph top speed limit, should you have the power, distance to ever do this -

Wow... silly to ask, are they really capable of that speed (with the right setup in place)?

Long enough road maybe it will, they get to 200 pretty easy

Maybe a very powerful engine might have the power, but you'd have to wonder if the wheels bearings and differentials would overheat first?

I’d not fancy it on the tyres either. It’s a heavy old Bertha, stock tyres are going to degrade rapidly at that speed.

More fool them! There’s a reason Veyron and Chiron have bespoke rubber.

True, not many people worry about things like that, worrying really.

biggest threat to the tyre is heat.

speed rating is for a constant speed for 2 hours.

I'm sure there will be a safety margin in there too.

So a short run at 200-210mph I can't imagine to be too risky if you've checked tyres prior. Obviously if 1 did fail I'd imagine you'd be in a world of hurt....

There's a big difference between 200 on the speedo and true 200 :bigblink:

When you do the sums, the centrifugal forces that the tyres have to withstand make you stop and think. I did the calcs once ( I used to go around weighing tyres for this reason) and I can't remember the numbers, but I do remember they were remarkably large. The tyres simply have to be very strong.
