Radiator Fan issue

Hi Guys,
Read through some earlier posts but my issue seems a bit different.
When I start the car all the fans run for a few seconds and then stop as usual. however a few seconds later the main fan comes on full power and does not stop until 10mins after I have switched the car off.
I am going to borrow a friends VCDS to try and find a fault code. also ordered a Coolant thermostatic Sensor just in case.
Anybody else had the same issue as above????
