Power is capped I'm told for now.
Would it need forged pistons and rods to take it any further?

Those are impressive curves - they look like stock, just lifted up a lot.

Nick

No I’ve all ready made more torque than this. Think the positive thing is we are making it earlier and it’s holding longer. I reckon we’ll end up staying around 1250nms.

So what was wrong with Marston ICs? Why couldn't they make this power?

No one is saying they can’t, they just haven’t in this instance

Significant pressure drop, resulting in less boost being made

no body knows the limits, so just being safe unless customer/s want to test at there risk.

Aha so it is! We are upgrading the low pressure system on my car and it’s away to have the exhaust redone end of the week. Intercoolers are being sent to radtec for inspection

So 1000 bhp and 1200 Nm aren't enough then? THT stated that 1khp needs 2 bar, and yours does it with just 1.4!

So is that the low pressure FUEL system? Were you losing fuel pressure at max power?

And don't you already have the best exhaust system on any car ever?

Is there no end to how much power you can get out of this engine?

Nick ;-)

Few areas to improve on the exhaust nick, so it’s off having that done. Upgrading the low pressure fuel system to leave some headroom. Told you, we ain’t done yet, there’s more in the turbos Image

I'm eagerly awaiting the end results, thinking I'll be upgrading to Wagner coolers if they ever come to fruition, and these turbos will likely go very well along side them 😁

There are lots of tuner's favourites out there, but can anyone think of any other mass production road car engine that can make 1khp on pump fuel with bolt on tuning?

I'd imagine the bi turbo V12 AMG wouldn't be far off if anyone started messing with them? Probably most high displacement V8+ engines would be capable with the right R+D

That's the community I'm moving from. I've owned three V12TT's, one was modified when I bought it and one was modified after I sold it, and I keep in touch.
The MB V12 has a single camshaft per bank, one exhaust valve per cylinder, and restrictive inlet and exhaust manifold design.
They make 5 - 600 bhp stock, and a stage 1 tune gives an easy 100bhp, but it takes lots of boost to get there, and then everything grinds to a halt.

The ubiquitous high power configuration is now the 4 litre 4 valve 4 cam hot inside V twin turbo V8 - all these manufacturers use it - they generate around 600 bhp stock, and are readily tunable to 800 or even 900 bhp, but I don't think any of them make it to 1 khp:

Aston Martin
Audi
Bentley
BMW
Ferrari
Lamborghini
Maserati
McLaren
Mercedes
Porsche

You can get a good idea of an engine's potential by looking at what TTE and TTH sell:

Just curious - are you any the wiser about what was wrong with your Marston intercoolers?
