TTH Turbos

Post by welwynnick » Tue Mar 12, 2019 9:56 pm

Regarding turbo options - has anyone come across TTH turbos? That's Turbo Technik Hamburg, rather than The Turbo engineers, which I always hear about (perhaps for good reasons).

They have four options for the C6 RS6: 580PS, 850PS, 950PS and 1050PS.

It's all in German, so not so easy to understand exactly what they're selling, or how they compare to the usual favourites, but I was surprised I never read about them.

It's quite likely that the RS6 shares it's CHRA with several other cars, so there should be a good supply if you can work it out. I'm not there yet.
Currently it's looking like the turbos are IHI RHF55 but I can't yet confirm that. It appears that the RHF55 is also used by Subaru on some Legacy, Outback and Impreza models.
I'll keep digging.

Confirms what I've found so far. Not before time - after a week or so with no or minimal smoke on start up, tonight I laid down a smoke screen for 3-4 miles through the centre of Leeds. If it does the same tomorrow morning it's off the road until I've sorted it.

If I were you and had to change turbos, I would go for TTE1000.

So would I, but I'm not aware that anyone has actually got 1000hp out of them yet.

Didn't the 850s make 950ish? Surely a name change like that would signify a possible power over 1000hp?

While they were advertising on this forum, they said they sold three already and that they are expecting results.
S4Player (forum member) is one of them and if you look on the previous page he said the results for his should come out soon.

I think the biggest bottleneck are intercoolers as there is no space for bigger ones.

TTE's reputation suggests the turbos are good for more than 1000bhp, but the tuner has to get everything else right.

I doubt that you could simply bolt on a pair of TTE1000's, tune the engine and 'box and get 1khp. It would be nice, but I agree with Zex, there are limitations elsewhere.

S4Player has gone to great lengths to deal with all of them, and I'm very much looking forwards to hearing his news.

I should have results this week, unfortunately we had a hold up on the exhaust side of things. I’ve went full 3.5” from the turbos back, I wanted to retain some level of quiet. Opted for 5” silencers and the wrong size came, so we lost a couple of days waiting on new ones. Exhaust is now finished and the car will be back at Mrc tomorrow for a week of testing and mapping. As said TTEs rep suggests we should do 1000hp minimum especially with my spec. My car ran 880ps and 1200nms on the 850’s on a mild map and 1008ps on race fuel. I’m hoping the new turbos do 1050+ps on 99 and upwards of 1150 on race. I think the curve will move slightly to the right as it’s a bigger turbine wheel, I’m hoping we don’t lose too much spool as the 850’s were incredible in that sense. Will post all findings good and bad throughout next week 👍🏻

Thanks for the update S4

Are you still running cats?

Have you got a link to your TT850 dyno chart?

Cheers, Nick

Cats are gone mate, dyno chart is on Mrc Facebook page I don’t have a copy on my phone. Car was stupidly fast on the 850’s, mid to top end was mind blowingly fast for such a big car

Keen to hear how you've got on with these turbos, have just bought a second hand pair of OEM turbos ready to send over to TTE for conversion with a view of following the same path.

What did you do for the 3.5" downpipes off the back of the turbos, was it a rework of the oem flange?

cheers,
rich
