What bulb type?
What bulb type?
Wondering what type of bulb the high beam uses on an rs6?
Re: What bulb type?
D2S, same as the dipped, just uses a shutter to move it.

Re: What bulb type?
So what is the halogen bulb in the headlight?
Re: What bulb type?
I don't have a C6 so just guessing; it is either the DRL or sidelight. Have you tried the light switches to see what turns it on (the one on the other side if it's working)?
Re: What bulb type?
Thats the fog light.
The dipped/main is one HID bulb and when you switch to main the dipped "shutter", which cuts off light from the bulb to make a dipped pattern, is removed from the dipped bulb so it becomes a main.

Re: What bulb type?
Which is why the main 'beam' is on a par with the lights of a 1980s Sierra, reducing the dip beam to a pretty near useless 'wash' of light . In my opinion the standard main beams on a C6 are wholefully inadequate for a vehicle with the potential of the speeds that it's capable of - those on my daughter's Yaris are far better, whenever I switch to mains on the RS I'm less than impressed.
I have thought of about a Trupps upgrade but one of the few things I've been blessed with in this life is excellent low light vision so I rarely use anything other than dips and for the moment I'm concentrating on catching up with the tasks that previous owners have let slip and getting the car spot on mechanically. It's on the list to be looked at before next winter though.

Ah. Didn't realise it had front fogs.
