Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
I have the Trups upgrade too.
It's great, works exactly as normal until you switch the fogs on, then you have 2 identical lights,
I.e 2* dipped beams or 2* main beams on each light unit.
Strongly recommended.

Ah, so you don't get the extra main beam unless you have the fogs on?

Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
Exactly, HID startup is too slow for them to be used as a mainbeam flasher or quick mainbeam function - they need to be on and warmed up first to get the full benefit - unless you go to Bi-LED (instant on) as I am currently building for my DB9.Jim Haseltine wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 9:16 pmAh, so you don't get the extra main beam unless you have the fogs on?

Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
I'd wondered about the response time. Pity. Although I've moaned about the awful main beams on my RS they don't really matter as I rarely need to use them in any car that has decent low beams. Think I'll stick with things as they are. Mind you, thinking back over the near 7 years I've had the RS I don't think I've ever used the fogs other than to test them before a MoT.

Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
Trups modified RS6 Headlights are much better than stock as he uses better projectors, so even just using the 1 set of lights both the dipped and full beam are better - when you switch both on, both dipped and full are really good, better spread, more ven lighting and brighter with a better cutoff

It used to be - until I retired....
Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
Arent the fogs used as the courtesy parking lights that come on for a short duration when you get out? So youve actually used them every time you use the car? If so how does the Trups mod work with the courtesy feature?Jim Haseltine wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 12:28 pmMind you, thinking back over the near 7 years I've had the RS I don't think I've ever used the fogs other than to test them before a MoT.
Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
No the courtesy lights are the normal headlights, the fog lights (front and rear) only come on when the headlight switch is pulled out to activate each of them (Off, Front Only, Front & Rear).
EDIT - NO IT ISN'T, I'M WRONG, ITS THE FOGS!

Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
I checked this last night. It was unpleasant outside to I didn't look too closely but it did look like the courtesy lights were the front fogs, but running at low power. I'll take a closer look tonight.
Except for during a MoT test or maintenance that involves removal of the headlights, my switch is always set to 'auto' - a position from which you can't operate the fogs.

Having checked owners manual I beg to differ Ian....
Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
So does this feature still work with the TRUPS mod?

Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
A closer look. It was both the fogs and the DRLs at the front but appeared to be low intensity. I also noticed that the lights were triggered by either of the front doors opening.
Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
Jim - I suppose mine could be different after the Trups mod but mine are definitely the headlights, not fogs, for the courtesy lights.
EDIT - Talking rubbish Ian, it IS the fogs which light up!

Re: RS6 headlight bulbs
That would make sense as the headlight HIDs would have been in use so wouldn't have to go through the ignition/warm up phase again.
