Has anyone tried using fuel additives in their car?
And generally are they "recommended" or not for RS's?
Fuel additives?

Re: Fuel additives?
I used slick50 fuel system treatments on my corrado many years ago, it did make the engine run better and mot showed cleaner emissions. Down side i discovered later was all the seals on the fuel injectors had expanded and the fuel rail was destroyed trying to remove them. Personally, wouldnt use them again, just use V-power
Re: Fuel additives?
Cheers... have you considered using Terraclean or similar to get rid of or reduce carbon deposits in the engine?

Re: Fuel additives?
Terraclean only has a very slight effect on Direct Injection (DI) engines like ours as it only cleans the "exhaust" side of our DI engine, not the "intake" side which is where most deposits are. Additionally, as our engine is Forced Induction (FI) we also have less deposits on the valves than other non-FI cars like the RS4 as the increased boost pressure over a non-turbo makes it harder for deposits to stick. When I had my 100k mile engine stripped for a carbon clean there was very little to see.

Re: Fuel additives?
Keeping the engine hot also prevents carbon build up, I used to run a b7 very very hard, one day the oil temp was around 115 c and I saw sparks from the exhaust as I was accelerating, after a little freak out I realised it may have been done carbon build up being burnt off.IanH755 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 03, 2018 12:17 pmTerraclean only has a very slight effect on Direct Injection (DI) engines like ours as it only cleans the "exhaust" side of our DI engine, not the "intake" side which is where most deposits are. So a redline a day keeps the carbon away lmao
OT I've been considering using Fuchs octane booster for times when I can't get any super unleaded once mapped. But will definitely be doing a bit more research
Re: Fuel additives?
Something i had in mind was Vpower 99 + some Octane booster... i guess it cannot do any harm to a tuned engine ?
