The ITG ones have been known to dry out and get brittle with the constant heat-cycling of the engine bay, making it easy for the engine suction to start to pull them to bits.

You're supposed to clean and lube them once a year as per this thread - viewtopic.php?f=47&t=126299 - and when I last checked MRC had swapped to BMC but these again need an annual "service" too.

ECP / carparts4less are doing a good deal on both.

Any thoughts re what to opt for?

BMC. Their construction is similar to K&N being a fabric encased in mesh rather than the foam used by ITG.
The yearly clean & oil is a bit time consuming so I pick a weekend when I'm not going to need to use the car. I suppose a sensible thing would be to have two sets - swap out the dirty ones and then service them at your leisure ready for the next change.

Not easy to describe. The filter sections are parallelograms approx 175x160 canted by approx 20mm on the 160 side. Right filter slopes to the right side of the car, left slopes to the left.

Spot on description. That's exactly what arrived at my local ECP after I'd ordered a set of BMC on special offer....for my C5. Clowns :bash: They're completely different & even though I'd provided my registration number, they still messed up!

Thanks guys. Are the filters about 25/30mm deep?

I've been surveying air filter sizes on a range of cars with V engines and filters on both sides to find which has the biggest filters (then I want to see if any of them can be made to fit the RS6!).

hi Nick,

both BMC and ITG performance filters are compatible with C6's.

Carparts4less are doing a good deal on both BMCs and ITGs... lead time is couple weeks and if you are not in a hurry, it's worth considering!

ps. i ordered BMC as per advise on forum experts (and to replace my dated MRC ones).
