Oil Level greyed out in MMI

Wanted to check the level of the oil in the car and followed the procedure in the handbook but the problem is the option never becomes available in the MMI CAR menu
Up to temp, checked after a 30 odd mile motorway jaunt and sat for a couple of mins
Went through the MMI and the option for Oil Level is greyed out
Took the car to Hamilton Audi and they could not get it to come up either, they scanned the car and nothing came back and as it is an early car they do not have a dipstick to fit that model (4F)
Any advise or is it a known fault.
Thanks in advance

Could this be meant for the 4G forum? Or was there V10 6's sold without dipsticks? As mine has the old fashioned pull and check dipstick. Is your car a V8 by chance?

It is 100% a V10
The service tech brought the workshop reference out to show me that there was a dipstick option for the 2009 and 2010 version but nothing for the 2008 version

Currently have a 08 Plate RS6 in my possession and can confirm that it does have a dipstick...

So there is a dipstick built into the cap. He took the car into the workshop and came back 10 mins later saying that there was no way of checking the oil level as the MMI option was greyed out and according to his workshop info for the car there was no dipstick he could use to check the level manually. He did admit that they do not get many of these cars through the workshop but I would still expect they would be able to get the right info for the car variant.
Will check tomorrow when daylight returns

Was just about to ask if your car has an oil fill cap as I realised it's an unconventional dip stick, surprised Audi did not know this though, but then again their level of expertise is questionable on anything outside mass produced variants, and even then I wouldn't be too confident in them.
Glad you got it figured out though!

I think the issue is that, as the car doesn't have a conventional dipstick into the block like 99% of cars, that can confuse mechanics who aren't aware that the car has a dry sump and therefore a remote oil tank with its own dip stick.

Yup, the car has a dipstick built into the cap. A bit shocked by the dealer sending me away saying there was no way of checking the oil. Going to head back out to see what they say to this blatantly obvious method of checking. He was away looking for a 3rd party way of checking the oil level with a workshop dipstick they have for other cars but nothing was listed for my early version.
Still nowhere closer to finding why out why the MMI option to check the oil level is staying greyed out and unavailable
Thanks all

Check this video to change how the oil level works; refer to 0:40s in, the option can be set to various numbers which dictates when the function is available, ignition on/off, engine on/off, stationery, moving etc. 5 is the recommended setting. Try changing the setting and let us know how you get on

If you dont get access to the hidden menu I think you can enable the hidden menu wth
VCDS

This
YouTube link is for the 3G MMI, has anyone managed to get this to work for the 2G version?
