Gearbox service

Post by c3nturi0n » Tue Jul 03, 2018 1:14 pm

Picked my car up at the weekend :)... one of the things I want to do on it is g/box service, purely because it's on Stage 2 and i doubt that anyone ever did anything to it.

Phoned the main dealer today and they quoted me £220 all in (incl. complimentary wash :boohoo:). Will emphasise not to do g/box update and/or "touch" the electronics... however, was wondering if any of you have done this type of service at main dealer (or elsewhere) and anything to be wary of?

cheers.

sounds far too cheap...and I thought Audi policy was the gearbox are "sealed for life" unless that's changed recently...

MRC recommend gearbox service every 20000 miles for stage 2 I believe.

I did mine when I bought it, made a noticeable difference in "smoothness"

It's a 4 hour schedule, and 10 litres of gearbox oil, but you'll never drain all of that.

Be aware it's very likely multiple bolts will get snapped/sheared, 4Rings snapped/sheared 7/20 of mine doing it....

I did triple check and even corrected them that it's not DSG but rather T'tronic g/b. However, they "re-assured" that i'm in safe hands and that their system is single source of truth :))).

Audi made an error as person on the other end "was on training"... they don't service sealed for life boxes at main dealer!

I'm thinking about several options... and the question is how challenging is it to replace gearbox oil?

1. do it at reputable (RS6 specialist) company and pay a premium or
2. source genuine parts and complete the work at reputable Audi/VW specialist
