KWE downpies

Post by Rs6Rob » Thu Mar 08, 2018 8:07 pm

Before a drop the hammer on a pair of KWE 3" Downpipes, I thought I would check to see if anyone has got a pair they want to sell?

I just fitted a set to my RS6 a few weeks ago, i

Unfortunately they are really average and require A LOT of work to fit. One hangs an inch or so lower than the other and both sides required substantial mods to miss gearbox and other items.

These same issues were confirmed by IAN, he said MRC had the same issues with KWE.

Shame as i paid over 500 euros to have them expressed over whilst i did the oil pump oring....

i dont have the photos handy but if you do buy them make sure to shorten the drivers (rhs) about 1 to 2 inches before bolting it all up.

I have just read your post, does not sound good - Think I'll just get the cats gutted, the same end result, except I know they will fit.

Anybody out there had their primary cats gutted?

I too initially bought a set of the KWE and they caused me so much grief, loss money and the quality was piss poor.

Go for Demand engineering's 3' down pipes... they fit perfectly and were jigged up from my old car. Dan can fit them in situ which is a plus.

If anyone goes for them do mention that David put you on to him.

Is it worth doing the downpipes on a car which is already stage 2 or gutting the precats? Mine may need the oil seal doing soon, just thinking ahead. My car is running quite low boost as it made 1068nm MRC limit at just over 700bhp

Absolutely yes....if you're going to do it then do it properly with downpipes rather then trying to cut out the cats.

You should see close to 800ps with the DP's stage-2.

Oh they know the score alright... I bought them and even though the quality and welds were piss poor, I had to try use them because my engine was out with Ricky. I even ceracoated them but only to find out they didn't fit at all. So, the car was transported to Demand engineering to fabricate new ones at my expense. They were that bad that KWE offered full refund without taking them back.

These same issues were confirmed by IAN, he said MRC had the same issues with KWE.
Just to be clear, Classba was the person who first confirmed these issues and he told me about his nightmare with fitting issues when I asked his advice about them. It was only later on that I chatted to Doug who also confirmed that they'd had issues.

Interesting observation - will you be able to elaborate on "running low boost"? e.g. is this some kind of trade of for power in higher revs or...

- Stage II MRC tune with gearbox (720PS/850Nm)
- MIJ Powerflow exhaust (non-res)
