Hi,
Here is the procedure to remove/install the starter motor. It's attached to the gearbox so doesn't look like the easiest of things to get to. I'll have a look later on today where the starter relays are on the car.

Douglas

As pointed out by Jim, the procedure does actually state the engine and gearbox have to be removed.

I've also had a quick look at things and doubt that you can get to the starter mounting bolts and cables with the downpipe and turbo in place. If I've got the time (and it's a bit warmer) at the weekend I'll see about taking a closer look.

Hi 993turbo,
Here are the fitting locations for the starter relays and also a current flow diagram should you need it (hopefully not though). Also I see your location is Marbella so I'm assuming that your car is a left hand drive as you can see from the pictures.

Hopefully this helps you.

Well, they've got previous for that sort of thing. The clutch master cylinder on RHD 80s, coupes & Ur quattros is almost impossible to get to - from what I remember, the dealer book time was 9 hours for R&R. I got it down to 6 the last time I did one with most of that time being spent kneeling outside the driver's door working in the footwell.

Great news! Glad you got that sorted. Which one was it, or did you just change the two of them?
