In preparation for my stage 2 conversion I am going to have the gearbox serviced (I am presuming that this is just changing the fluids?)

My local specialist want £350 for this, is that a fair price for the job?

Hi
I had mine done yesterday at CM Tuning in Morley Leeds they charged £580 which included all the gaskets, filter and fluids and gave the car a once over while it was in.
Chris the owner used to work at MRC so knows his stuff.
Hope this helps

It’s going in to Swift in Westerhope http://www.swiftmotorengineering.co.uk/ on Monday for a Service, Gearbox Service, ARB’s, wheel spacers and the phaeton brake cooling mod. I’ve not used them before so can’t recommend yet, previous work has been done by Unit 20 but Liverpool is a bit of a hike and I had a couple of recommendations for swift from here.

I’ll let you know on Wednesday if I’d reccomend or not 😄

My dealer said that the gear has a sealed system. which was not contrary to what I read online. regardless I asked them to do a full service on it and they only replaced the Oil. no filter or anything of sort. I'm really surprised to why that is.

My dealer said that the gear has a sealed system.
Dealers have been saying that for years. The handbook for my oldest Audi (now 38 years old) says that both the gearbox and rear diff are 'filled for life'.
Contrary to this, the dealer service fiche for the model has detailed fluid capacities, with drain and refill instructions.

Ian posted up a link to a video of the gearbox manufacturer saying it should be serviced, audis own policy is not to.
