Intake manifold flaps

Hi all, I am trying to complete a de-flap on my C6, but may have a problem with a faulty solenoid. Am I right in thinking that taking the flaps out and replacing the actuators/sensors should just work?

I'm being told that new solenoids aren't available, is this really so?
