New RS6 C6 Avant Buyer seeking new friends and opinions and all the help you can offer!

Post by Considered1 » Sun Aug 20, 2017 10:00 pm

Hi Guys and Girls, first post so please be kind!

I've put a holding deposit on this pending Full inspection and Mrs Considered1 actually seeing the vehicle and agreeing its more comfy than my Volvo XC60 i've had for over 3 yrs from new. Big step up in HP for me and ready for the big service bills and running cost, call it an early(?) mid life crisis but hey here we go...

[url]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWAcpngwADk/url]

If anyone knows any history of the vehicle all info greatly received but seems in excellent condition, Audi Serviced until the very last one and I'm hoping from the invoices that Oil seals replaced in 2015 by Audi. Will they confirm to me if I call them up? Looks like it's been taken care of and relatively low miles.

There is also German Car specialist place near the car dealer so agread to get them to inspect it. I've been looking for a number of months and had expected to take it to MRC as i've not really seen any reviews of anyone closer but maybe Oxford is a bit far. Hopefully these guys know where to look when I give them my shopping list of things to look at. Anything else I should be adding?

Oils Seals
Coolant Lines
DRC/Shocks

Reading some of your good posts I'm going to be looking at a gearbox service soon so hopefully these guys are on the same page..

If anyone can recommend or otherwise all info greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to sharing ideas, been a very active member of the Volvo forum for past 4 years as the resident options expert so no mechanical knowledge and certainly no DIY'r (I knew there was a reason I bought an old house with no drive!) but like to do things right where possible.. thanks for reading and hope this all works..

I'm also seeking any tips for the best place to get a Dog Guard and Boot liner. Do Audi do these for older models, nothing pre 2012 on their website. Not used Travail before but looks ok I guess, mesh looks rather small and lots of it so wonder if this might rattle at all?

FON.

Who is selling this car? Are to buying it off YouTube?
Post a link to the for sale site, sometimes the seller can be just as revealing as the details given.
No matter where you go, there you are.

There's an OE dog guard/load restraint net. Because I often carry bulky loads and my other half owns a Husky I'm more interested in these products http://www.boot-buddy.com/

Welcome to the forum, good idea getting an inspection done. Try Audi MPC. Looks like a nice fully loaded example.

I think my manager has his Porsche serviced by German Autocare in Leeds - I'll check with him tomorrow.

many thanks for all the replies, I'm very happy so far, checked out the info on Audi's systems as it has full Audi service history from new until Nov16 and has still been attended to after that with an independent.

German Autocare currently have the car and I await there report tomorrow, all being well collect later in the week.

My main concern was the dreaded Oil Pump Shaft Seal work which has been done c/o extended warranty at Audi Worthing in 2015 with two pages of 70 items on the service/invoice sheet, pity there is no Total to pay as that probably would have drawn my eye to it sooner. Lots of Seal Rings and gaskets mentioned and also Qty of 4 uder coolant so wondering if this might mean the Coolant lines have been replaced at the same time, is there anything else that would suggest this has been done.

and just for the record I wouldnt buy off Ebay, YouTube or any other Social Media and we have driven it. Will take Mrs C1 for a longer "comfort" test this week and maybe just maybe getting a little more excited now!

Ok, that's fantastic news, thanks not actually clearing anything up, so who did you buy it from?! Is there a link to the sale ad?

I work opposite German Autocare and have a C6! I'll be honest, i never use them several bad experiences. Pudsey Service Centre have worked om my RS's for ten years and specialist jobs and servicing unit20 all the way.

I'm pretty certain that the coolant has to be drained in order to do the oil seal so I wouldn't go on that. You want to look for two items (probably helpfully labelled 'pipe') in the list of parts :
4F0 121 169 at approx £39 and 4F0 819 278 A at around £169

Thanks, I'm actually a bit further north so would love to find somewhere a little closer, are Unit 20 just on Merseyside, closer for my lad I suppose when he borrows it but it'll come back with loads of mods on if I do that!

Sadly no pipes, just a couple of tubes, better start saving for that one then

Many thanks again for the help, really appreciated.

Thought I'd post an update for anyone interested, the report whilst fairly basic on paper I did speak to the tech and the owner who were very impressed with the car, they made "very dry" sound extremely good.. I had a mate get me the service history from Audi and she seems to have been well looked after so with a a certain leap of faith as to be expected with large sums of money involved I swapped my beloved XC60 for the RS6, keeping my promise to my lad that I'd have a super car before age 50.

Getting used to filling up every 2nd time I take the car out reminds me of my Subaru days and plotting routes to incorporate Shell V Power stations, but hey we can now Shop at Waitrose with the vouchers!.

I took a 3 yr Gold RAC Warranty with the car dealer as it seemed decent for £500 and included RAC breakdown but According to Audi's website I can have an extended warranty which would be £110pm or so with no limit as the car is under 60k miles, seems to increase a fair bit when it gets over this. The RAC warranty has a £2000 limit so I'm torn between taking the Audi one on top (any problems effectively having 2?) or putting a couple of hundred pounds a month away for servicing/repairs as I'd expected anyway.

I got a boot mat from Audi and a dog guard on order, an MMI cable to get my iPhone working and wow how good is this BOSE system, now i'd always thought spending large amounts of money on music systems in a car can't be a very rewarding exercise but how wrong I have been, fantastic sound especially for an 8 yr old system..

Love the car and the power and a great feeling when the electric steering wheel adjustment moves as you get in and out, nice having a cruise control that sticks to its assigned speeds down hill, unlike Volvo (adaptive) and BMW and getting used to the audi sat.Nav again as was in our 2008 A6 2.0 Tdi, its like going back in time but in a classic way, also managed to get a (non audi) Dvd to update the maps which it did in just a few minutes but works well.

Oh got an RS06 plate with my initials on (actually had that before I bought the car!). Overall very impressed and when it ask myself "have I made a good move even if rather illogical', swapping a perfectly good car with a warranty, polestar upgrade, giving 2 years further free servicing to its next owner and loosing a bit of fancy tech, I reply "Hell Yeah!"..
