My RS6 and how people use their cars.

Post by GBR1198 » Wed Aug 02, 2017 3:41 pm

09/07/2016: I thought I would introduce my car after a fantastic year of ownership; Sapang Blue 74,000 (when bought) at the time thought it was stock, turned out to be tuned by Revo to stage one.

Image

I decided I wanted a C6 after making a profit on my B5 which was a sub 30k mile car with perfect service history etc. but it meant I wouldn't ever drive the thing it was just too nice 2 owners never seen a child, dog or bike so not really ideal for me. So i sold it, and went shopping for a C6 this blue one turned up with an audi warranty, both big jobs done and a fellow forum member as a bonus. I drove it back from Leeds and fell in love we had a two car convoy with my Mrs. in the 335d and me in the audi it was a really fun day.

Image

02/08/2016: After owning it for a few weeks I got it booked in to Unit 20 for a 'box service and a check over all was good it was confirmed that audi had done a good job of both the coolant lines and oil pump and because it had been done under warranty they went all out replacing the radiators, pipes, gaskets and the whole oil pump which set mondal back over 2k so thats a bonus!

Image

30/07/2016: I also gave the car a full two stage compound and polish followed by Gtechniq protections.

Image
Image
Image

06/08/2016: next came a wheel referb and new MPSS all round. The wheel colour is a BMW anthracite and I love it light enough to pop when clean.

17/07/2016: As she was in rude health the next port of call was to get her stage two so I booked her in for a stage two as i was a little dissaponted with how a big turbo V10 is pretending to be an NA in the stock car if you compare this to a third great pull in my B5 where the torque smacks you like a sledge hammer at 3000 revs and then thanks to Cosworth it pulls like a train until the limiter! The 6 just felt a little laking, after a good chat with Ben and Doug and a nosey around the car park we went for a coffee and awaited the call to see what she made about 1430 the phone rang so we wandered back to be presented with a graph showing 738hp and 1040nm which I'm chuffed with. The interesting thing is the fact that doug told me she had been mapped for at least five years running about 640hp, this is interesting because until my ownership she's never been out of warranty with audi! just goes to show audi were probably right with the newer cars to add safe guards against mapping so they can see if they are being duped.

13/10/2016 After reading IanH's review of Trups headlights I decided I was bored of not being able to see more than 100 yards at night so I started to contact Trups about getting a quad setup he was brilliant pardon the pun, we arranged a date and I left my car with him and when I returned I had fantastic headlights! I really cannot recommend them enough they are epic makes our 2016 range rovers lights look like they are from a 90's rover!

27/10/2016: Next with the help of a forum member I made the trip down to Demand engineering near ipswich to fit a second hand one of their systems. The noise is now something else, so purposeful no miltek drone and in the high rpm it sounds like a fighter jet mated with a super bike! And the gear shift crack is now like a gun shot any tunnel or built up road I'm now such a child with 2nd gear pulls everywhere!

Image

lastly I wanted to sign this post off with a few examples of what I use my car for it gets used as Audi intended it and has become a part of the family in the year I have owned it!

gets used to ferry my dogs about.

Used to transport my Mach 2 to events on the roof.

^This is one of my favourite photos of my car its like its in is natural habitat I can almost hear Sir Davids commentary about the lesser spotted boosted v10 estate the last of a dying breed.

Long epic road trips though wales and up to Abersoch.

One year and just over 6000 miles, 1500 litres of fuel and 4 MPSS tires and one happy owner. My car is used hard and as an estate.

Who's cars are garage queens and who's get used daily? Who takes their car on holiday?

I will post soon with my future plans and 2017 updates.

Thanks for reading.

Glad the "Trups Review" helped!

How easy was the Gtechniq stuff to apply?

Yeah I love my car I keep thinking about other cars but then the c6 is just so cool! I'm so lucky that my commute for work is only about 50 yards from work so no commute! I have a lot of thanks for people on this forum!

Mine's stage 2 courtesy of the guys at MRC, i know what you mean about 2nd gear pulls, 'toggle childish mode' :-) although i use it as a daily driver, the office is only a couple of miles away so its just about warmed up by the time I get in, so coffee then find a customer to go and see :-)

Other than work, its the weekend toy for taking the family to the east coast, flat boot loading area on the Avant is great for chucking the boys on to get the sand of their feet before heading home.

Got 130k on the clock now and she's still going strong, interesting bit you mention about the 'zorst, apart from the supersprint bypass pipes its still stock and getting a bit fed up with the droning, doing a few hundred miles in one stint and I find myself cruising in 5th instead of 6th to avoid the drone. What did Demand fit to yours and what sort of money are you looking at? Seriously considering getting something done and always like first hand reviews as a recommendation!

Cheers,
Rich

40k miles Driven everyday, rain hail or shine, but loved very dearly. Two track days coming up so cant wait to see how porker goes around a circuit.

only stage 2 type tuning atm but soon to change once i get some spare time to throw it on the dyno and get the wmi plumbed in. E85 blend is doing the trick for now though.

I had full stainless steel custom exhaust and 3" downpipes fitted about 2.5 years ago at Demand. I believe they work with titanium now too (Don't know titanium prices). I paid £4k (£1.8k for downpipes and removal/fitting, Demand were the first in UK I believe to remove/replace with engine in. only caveat any broken studs are an extra £100 each).

The car spools up much faster with cats removed, and you can hear the turbo's spooling up a bit.

Cruises nicely, I generally drive with no music, just listen to the exhaust, it's that good.

The sound is unbelievably good, no droning. From the outside it's the best sound I've ever heard. At full beans it WILL get you noticed ;)

RS6-T28RPH How long have you had your car? 130k is a good number of miles, had many issues? My car doesn't drone any more than a stock car.

As for the other cars I will do a full write up over the next week or so but here are some pictures;

GBR1198, bought the car May 2015 from Brighton, on the way back into Grantham it rolled onto 111k as I came off the A1 so roughly been about 10k per year on it. I've spent a fair bit on it as when I was looking i didnt fancy spending £30k from a dealer for a car that could have all the problems that a cheaper example could also have, plus I have always bought cars with 80k miles upwards and spent a few quid on getting them sorted.

Its nice as you get to know the car after you have put a bit into it and i work closely with my mechanic on all the vehicles we have in the company so its not like its gone behind closed doors at a dealership.

O2 sensor went on day 1, probably cooked it having some fun on the way home with the car. Oil pump internal seals broke just before xmas 2016, that was £2500 from TPS for a whole new oil pump. Front offside drc damper started leaking in feb this year, front corner of the car looked like a low rider when stopping at lights so went into MRC for that work, and accidentally had stage 2 done while it was in (wife was not amused lol) managed to get out of MRC and up the M40 to the next services before she worked out what was going on :-) Had a problem with the high beam in the headlights causing an MOT fail in April, wire had broken on the nearside headlight so took the opportunity while Trups was fixing it to get the projector lens upgraded at the same time. Just had the car in the bodyshop for everything apart from the roof as it was severely road-rashed. Ontop of the £20k buy price, according to my maintenance log i've pumped another £13k into the car (including tyres and brakes). Dont even want to think about the cost of the 6k-7k litres of gogo juice its drank :-( since i've had it.

despite the cost, its not really a massive amount considering what the car is, so i'm a happy chappy, unfortunately the wife blames the car for not moving to a bigger house, but you cant have it all :-)

I love my cars I'm in the extremely fortunate position to be able to spend a large proportion of my income on cars and carbon boats without the misses complaining as she's massively into her cars and track days too.

Im looking forward to taking the car back to Grizz in October for a minor service and a check over to see what she needs.

Im hoping to get massive miles out of mine as i love it so much i wish i could have a c7's tech and Box' with a C6's engine thats the dream!

I know what you mean about spending some money on the car with some issues my best cars have needed work.

thanks for all the responses.
