Multi Function Display died..

Post by niall1 » Mon Jun 19, 2017 1:41 pm

Hi all
The multi function display between my analogue clocks has died. It had been flashing on and off or slow to display on cold mornings but a few weeks ago it died altogether. I got an electrical burning smell at the time and my mechanic has had a look and confirmed that the circuit board has fried itself. Is this a common fault or have I just been unlucky? Audi want over a grand for a replacement unit plus labour and programming etc.. An auto electrician in Cork said he might be able to help but needs to know the make of the display (Bosh/VDO/etc). Anyone have any idea what make it is or were there different ones for the RS6?
Thanks
Niall

Hi Niall,

If you have VCDS it should be able to tell the manufacturer of the instrument cluster.

Click "select" on "select control module".
Then click "17-instruments"

It should be listed next to "component".

Hi guys, I sent the cluster away to be repaired locally and it was returned to me as apparently the board is fried.. What are my options as a new replacement unit from Audi Ireland is too expensive.

Yes it should do buddy I’ve bought a few bits off the guy he’s been great what you’ll have to do is get the data transferred from the old clocks to these it’s just the memory in the chip on the clocks any dash correction place should be able to do it
Or you’ll have to get the clocks configured at the stealers
Anyways good luck
Cheers henry

Try these guys, all you do is send them the cluster and they repair and return. They state the below.

Your instrument cluster will not lose any mileage or immobiliser data once repaired and you will not need to re-code the unit once you receive it back repaired from us. Just plug in and play.
