There wasn't a black optics pack available on the C6 as far as I know so you'll have to go for wrap-mine was wrapped in satin finish with the grille surround being gloss. Looked awesome and in the year I had my C6 it didn't peel or flake. Used Herts Tints in St Albans who were expensive but did a great job.

I had mine painted, you can get a specialist paint from innotec called window frame paint designed for the job. £19 per tin. It's a factory finish obviously.

I had my Audi rings painted black and while the front ones were fine I found that pressure washing the back ones started chipping away the paint after a while. With my C7 I'll be looking at replacing the rings to prevent that happening again. I told the workshop about that and apparently it was down to the compound of the paint used, worth checking as when it starts chipping off it starts to look sh1te

Sounds like <beep> workmanship, paints all about prep. I wanted mine doing once, properly. Hence wrapping wasn't for me and I'm fussy! I even colour code wheel weights and lacquer all new parts

I second this. My wrap still looks fine after nearly 12 months.

Didn't know you could buy a paint though Lee, very interesting. I might go down that route when I get into a C7 later in the year hopefully.

The wrap was great it was the paint on the rings that started to flake from pressure washing. When I mentioned it to the guys who did it they mentioned they'd changed their paints due to this happening so it shouldn't be an issue now I don't think. Still unsure whether to go for replacement rings or painted ones on the C7 though

Mine are black but not wrapped or painted, not sure on the optics pack but it's a 'Plus' so maybe that's the reasoning, point being is there must have been a way to be originally black.

Pretty sure the Plus would have had black optics from the factory, the same as the C5.

or cut in half to see if black to the core?
still not had any flakes, even after a good try with a stupidly powerful pressure washer.
