2008 Xenon issues - Flashing when locked

Post by adamfraser » Sun Feb 26, 2017 1:21 pm

Wonder if anyone could shed some light on the issues I have had this weekend...

Drove it yesterday, error coming up for right hand indicator issues. Was cancelling off as soon as I put the indicator on, then coming on a minute later. Parked up, mirror indicator jammed on. Went into the house then noticed the headlights coming on and off intermittently, but staying on for a while. Locking/unlocking solved the problem.

Disconnected battery for 10 minutes, reconnected and all seemed ok. Driving last night, had Drivers dip beam fail. Switched lights off and back on from the switch (car still running), all back to normal.

Parked the car up, got a call from a neighbour, looked outside and the xenons are going mental! Unlocked it, went off again, locked it, 5 minutes later same again.

Left it with the battery off overnight, been in it today and all seems ok so far... but not very confidence inspiring...

I did notice one of my LED bulbs on the number plates starting to flicker a bit but surely it wouldn't get the xenons to ignite with the car switched off?!

Attached video for reference.. thoughts appreciated.

Oh no! The only time I've heard similar was a similar year A8 where the lights were going mad due to a severe water leak. Head lights would come one despite car being parked and locked. Probably not what you want to hear....

No harm in checking for water ingress, at least you could then rule this out? Take the front two mats out and checking the front two foot wells under the dash where the carpet stops at the bulkhead etc, check rear footwells are not damp (these often sit slightly lower than the fronts)
