Looks great discostu49!
I think you've convinced me to make this my next weekend project as my factory aluminium trim on the grill has started to bubble after getting a stone chip
I was also looking to wrap the roof rails black too.....do you think the film will mold well to the step in the rails and hold form?

Quote was about £360 to get all aluminium blacked out including the roof bars.

That's not too bad really.

Ok with roof bars is not so bad for 360. But 400 for door handles and grille seemed a lot.

Strange is your grill original? As I thought it was actually aluminium and didn't think it could bubble hence it's £900 price tag. My old a3 grill bubbled but that was chrome over plastic. Yes the wrap will do the rails but will have to be done in two parts the bottom part from the roof then the top over lapping will be fine if using back wrap

I believe it's genuine ....or I hope it is. It did have audi stamps and part numbers on the back side of it last time I had the front off.
It's actually more of a crease not a bubble and the same thing has happened to my driving light dial (where you choose auto, park or driving light) the aluminium has lifted and I have actually cut my finger on the aluminium dial once before.
I wouldn't have thought our grill surrounds are solid cast or billet aluminium like the mirror caps but instead were coated with a type of aluminium film or finish similar to chrome and if they were I don't think it would meet modern design rules when coming into contact with a pedestrian?
