Xenon bulb replacement hints or tips?

Post by Vieussuex* » Mon Nov 14, 2016 12:05 pm

One of my low beam Xenon bulbs is starting to faulter so got a set of Osram D2S Xenarc Night Breaker Unlimiteds and was looking forward to installing them today!

Once I opened the bonnet I realised the extremely limited space we have behind the light housing where it's hard up against the oil and power steering reservoirs for either side.

Don't particularly want to take it to the mechanic just to replace some bulbs so was hoping if anyone here has any tips or hints as to tackling this issue, it would be much appreciated!

...........what I thought be should be a relatively easy job is going to become a massive PITA job :?

Worst case - remove the bumper and remove the lights - massive PITA for what should (if I was in charge) be a roadside job without tools :(

Bumper off, great opportunity to black out the grill if you like that look. Also replace the fog bulbs at the same time with 130% uprates.

As somebody commented to me the other day - "Changing a bulb in an Audi is an engine out job. For your car and the car alongside".

I've gone with Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited's. A big improvement over the factory bulbs, meant to be the brightest bulb you can buy.

I have morimoto bulbs from Trups (forum sponsor, also known as EM Tuning). I forget if I have 5500K or 6000K, but very happy with them. Nice crisp white light.

Light output with a Trups-special clear projector lens upgrade is quite literally night and day vs the OEM setup.

Totally agree get the Trups upgrade. I went with the full quad projector set up and his latest sweeping indicator mod.
Not only are the lights amazing but the man himself is top class and extremely knowledgeable and helpfully

Added as an extra fit I think i.e. an additional LED strip added?
