Just after some views

My car looks nice from 2m or so, but close up is suffering age/mileage chipping and also scratches

Just wondering what peoples views are on respraying?

Would people think I've hidden damage etc?

The obvious choices are front respray to get the worst dealt with, that and sills rear front arches or full respray

For me, the car's a keeper for the foreseeable future

No issues with paint. I'd rather apply paint than have scratch/chip/whatever sticking out like sore thumb.

I don't think anyone is going to suspect that you're hiding damage; it's not unusual to respray a slightly older car to clear up chips etc.

If you're that worried though, you could always take some pics of the panels you're getting sprayed, with the date stamp on the camera on, so you have a record of the condition of the car prior to spraying.

And, of course, use someone reputable, as a badly sprayed car is a lot worse than one with chips IMO.

Yes, I'd rather a car had a front end respray and looked nice than peppered with stone chips. I'd expect that on a car after a few years. Just had my B7 sprayed. So much better now.

On the OP's spray, i can say i'd be exactly the same, much rather a clean fresh front end than a battered one... mine does need doing, but it'll be my DRC woes first when coins allow.

IMHO respray is the last resort. Rather do paintcorrection if you only have RDS and stone chips. You can fill the stone chips with paint, wetsand and polish. If this is done right, it will be very hard to see where you did the repair (depending on paint colour). A good paintcorrection will bring back the shine in the paint as well.

Il be getting mine done over the winter, as you said from far it's fine and in pictures it looks perfect but the age/mileage close up you can really see and it bugs me so that and the wheels are on my to do list during winter.

With your level of power Trups, just hitting a bug is going to chip the paint!

A respray and then PPF would be my choice now. Having forked out for doing the former in the past, I regretted not doing the latter.

I already regret not getting the whole of my car covered in PPF.

If you have a car resprayed does that cause problems if you use PPF then need to remove it? I ask because if you wrap a car that's had paintwork done when removed it can remove the paint

since buying the car in Jan its done 600 miles I need to find time to drive it, but I will be looking into the PPF after it as like you I want to keep it fresh

I have not heard this, surly its just if its a bad paint job?

Cheap wrap media and a poorly prepped paint job and a less than sympathetic wrap removal I'd have thought.
Low quality wrap is thicker than the quality stuff so has a stronger adhesive to keep it bonded to the contours and swages of bodywork. Add that to the stuff being pulled off rather than warmed and removed carefully and there could be damage - wrap should be removed with a similar method to its application so the adhesive is tacky rather stuck to the paint.

Yep that's right modern wrapping materials a so much better than even a few years years a go. You can use a little heat on the sharp corners this will help with removal it's about 1/5000 cars that have problems and these tend to be due to poor application or poor paint condition and preparation.
