Headlight unit failures??

I've just had to replace both my headlight units after swivel module failures / control module failure. I know there's always been a problem with condensation but just wondering how many other members have replaced units due to these problems? I've just noticed Andy has just replaced one of his on his for sale thread.
Audi UK have no record of this problem.
Should you really need to replace your headlights on a car costing 75k plus. I've never replaced a headlight on any other car I have ever owned.

did they put new control modules before they put the new headlights?
As it was done out of warranty you kept your old units right?
There is no way the cogs would seize, they are fully greased up etc and there is no way of the board corroding. be interesting to see them and the state of them.

Audi changed the control module in the first one but it still didn't fix the problem hence I had a new unit unfortunately didn't even think about keeping it.
The other unit is due to be changed this week. I will keep the unit.

Just had to do mine also Mark! Audi had it in for best part of a week to make sure they diagnosed the correct component but eventually it cost me a new headlight unit. Been and expensive month as just had to replace disks and pads plus service

Andy I'm sure we're not the only ones to replace headlight units unfortunately for me number two failed two weeks after number one. Very expensive as you know

I had to replace one too... im not sure what does it, must be a combination of heat and condensation on the wiring.
I think i had mine apart once and the actual motor was goosed, wouldnt engage properly and would just spin the worm gear with no resistance.

Well just had the other headlight unit changed. Drove 10 mile home and yes it's got condensation in it. Perfectly acceptable according to Audi even though it obscures your LEDs when on auto ffs

The turning function. That's what you was having the problem wit, the motor, il try code mine out today and see what happens then rather than giving Audi any more hard earned just code out, when I had my last C6 I didn't even know it had turn light xenons, that's how useful they was.

I finally have two brand new very clear headlights. Managed to get a bit more goodwill from Audi on the second unit but still set me back £1500 for the pair.
Trups I did ask for the second light unit but was told it had to be sent to Audi as it involved goodwill !!!! Me thinks that won't be coming back again.
