Audi warranty-renew or not?

At a risk of repeating myself (sorry if I am) but I'm around 2.5 weeks away from the extended comprehensive warranty expiring on the RS. It's around £1300.00 to extend it by another year I believe. Seeing as I just dodged the coolant issue and they (Audi) gave me a clean bill of health BUT confirmed that it's not covered if/when it becomes an issue nor is any corrosion. So my concern now is-do I renew that warranty? Car is stock for now but will get an MRC trip at some stage. Is it worth the outlay? If not then what's the next best thing or should I just stick with Audi as it covers most of the other issues (such as oil leak)? Obviously once tuned then drivetrain etc would not be covered.
Thoughts? Recommendations?

I went through this a while back. Decided not to bother as there are so many exclusions. At the end of the day the call cars getting older so they don't want to cover the things that will fail.
£1300 a year can cover bills. Personally I've taken the risk but everyone is different.
Think I was quoted £1600 a year for top cover but yes it doesn't cover coolant lines. And excludes a lot of wear and tear. Most stuff is!

Tossers!

Tough one. Does it cover oil leaks or anything that would require the engine out? If it does, then maybe. But it does sound like you're buying something you can't really use.

Love you all really! :)

If it's engine out then yes it's covered but only in that case! Just for everyone's info they sent me the information and here's the lengthy exclusion list! :

A friend of mine refers to insurance as 'legalised theft' which is pretty bang on the mark. You pay them money and then when tou try and claim they try and find fault in the claim or it falls under an exclusion clause and they wriggle out of it! What's the alternative though?

One option may well be to just do monthly payments and when it gets the MRC treatment then decide if it's really worth the outlay when they will black flag the car and look for ways to void any claim. Probably lots and lots of experience on these forums of this so am all ears!

An alternator failure will more than enough cover the cost of the warranty.
And yes they do fail ;)

Just ensure you have a decent sized war chest, just in case things do go wrong. That's what I've always done and I reckon I'm far better off financially.

I wouldn't run one of these cars without warranty myself... there's not much that can go wrong which will cost less than £500 to fix once you take in to account the extortionate Audi labour rates.

I would also jack up the excess to the max and don't add Audi Assistance (just get RAC cover separately, way cheaper and then you are covered in any car), should get you to something around £800 instead of £1300.

If several issues are found at the same time, you only pay the excess once. So unless your car is a dud and constantly breaking there's no point going for the 0 excess option.

Thanks for the input guys (as always), it's pointed me in the right direction which is to Maintain the Audi warranty, the repair bills can be scary so am going to err on the side of caution.
