is a gearbox remap really worth it , I know it raises the rev limit but tbh I'm not bothered about raising the rev limiter , prefer it as is as it's less strain on the engine , does it.really quicken the shifts or is it placebo. ..just not sure it's worth having it done at the same time as the stage 2 map

I spoken to Stan at ecotune about this he said it only really mattered on the c5 rs6 the c6 dosnt need to get the box mapped

The GB map removes some of the torque limits, changes the shift RPM and is designed to match the Stage 2 map so without it you'll have around 950nm (power still 700+) or 1050nm with it.

cheers Ian,its probably better not to have the G/B map then so itll put less strain on the box,you gain another 75 ft by removing the limiter but tbh 700 ft is plenty,at the mo i would guess i have around 600ft (813 nm) so another 100 ft will be spot on for me

Tbh I found the gb map more of a change than a stage 2 map. It shifts quicker and holds the gear longer, just made it feel like a train pulling longer and longer. Just my two pence worth

Gearchanges are quicker and i drive mine like a spanner i have had zero gearbox issues with stage 2 maps.....
Oil and filter changes are key for it lasting regardless of mapped or unmapped.
I find the one thing i wish was removed (me and ian recently discussed this) is the kick down pedal in manual mode, possibly the most annoying feature ever created.

When I asked 10 months ago MRC said they'd have to "look into it" as it's not something they currently offer on their GB map (although other mappers do so it is possible) and it went no further in the mean time despite chasing.

I agree with Andy(for once). At first I just had the S2 MRC map and it was great and got around 700hp. I then had the GB remap and secondary cat removal and whilst it only gained another 25hp the difference in driving it was vast. With just the S2 map it felt like a faster version of the standard car, with all the mods it feels much more brutally fast in such a good way. The car is still the same family cruiser when in drive, but turn the traction control all the way off, knock it into manual and boom, it's a monster (god knows what a 900+hp one feels like!).
