October 2021 Update - I've now swapped from these KWE I/C's to a set of the Wagner I/C's and I'm just waiting on a new map to get the most from them.

Interesting. Look forwards to hearing how you get on. Do you have any particular targets?

I'm more interested in the better cooling and better flow of the Wagners as the TTE850's I have max out around 950hp on V-Power. However as I'm currently running it slightly down in power at 890hp with a lower the usual torque figure basically I'll say to Doug "see what you can get" and I'd imagine on a health setup I'd be getting 930hp+ with 1100nm+.

Hi Ian,

It will be interesting to compare dyno results, as i'm also going for a dyno session next weekend to see what mine can do. I have the TTE1000 and the Wagner IC, but i kept the exhaust system stock, apart from the downpipes. Over here in Malaysia, the heat just ruins the dyno numbers, as the ambient air temps are always 30+deg, so heat is a major factor here for dyno runs. Anyway...i guess we'll strap her down to see what can be achieved.

Cheers
Roy

Hi Roy, I'm quite interested in the shape of the curves, just to see how it differs from the more restrictive KWE ones at the top end. Doug absolutely hated the mapping KWE ones, too much heat soak, and he had to knock the rpm down from 7000rpm redline on my stage 2 back to OEM 6500rpm as the KWE's were strangled by that point.

Re: Malaysia, does the air's humidity also have a big effect over there as well as the air temp?
Hi Ian,

Indeed, i'm very interested to see the shape of your curve compared to mine, especially at the top end. I'm sure there will be differences, as there are quite a few hardware differences between our cars. My GB is also still stock, so i have to limit the torque, but i don't think that would be a factor at the very top end, as the torque reduces anyway as the power plateau's.

I'm not 100% sure what my "limiting factor" will be to be honest...ie, will it be the exhaust flow bottleneck due to stock cat back exhaust, ability of the Wagner to keep the intake temps down / volume restrictions or if fueling will be the limiting factor, as i have stock fuel pumps & injectors, so it will be interesting to see how yours gets on at the top end vs mine.

To be honest, not sure how much "humidity" affects things vs actual air temp...i'm sure the effect of both has a significant overall affect, but how each of them, individually, affects the overall dyno run...i dont know. When looking at humidity though, high humidity over here could be the same for example as a wet day in UK, as humidity is just the qty of H2O in the air...the biggest difference is the air temps between the countries. Having humidity at the same level, but colder temps mean more O2 going through the intakes, likewise over here, the opposite is true...which is my main worry, as there is very little that can be done to get rid of the heat that the car is producing, as the natural ambient air temps are so high & of course the car also retains heat for much longer as the heat exchanger effect is minimal. The dyno is not in an air con environment unfortunately, so we'll just see how things go.

The last dyno session i did before the last round of covid lockdown's she did 741whp @ 1.15bar boost. The dyno only reads whp, so i have to use these figures.

I see your dyno result ftom 2016, you resched 802whp / 920ps, then in 2018 reached 728whp / 884ps. What were the main differences between these two dyno sessions, as i guess you were using the same IC on both were you? Any reason for the ability to reach 920ps 1st time round, but not the 2nd time, or was it just all down to the conditions on the day of each dyno run?

Cheers
Roy

Yeah, I was wondering if the extra water content in the air from a high humidity (90%+) environment might help or hinder cooling. I mean yes there's some water (good for cooling) but it's "hot" water, so I was wondering if would have a similar (but much reduced) effect as having Water injection here in the UK to help control inlet temps.

I asked MRC to knock the top end down on mine in 2018 as it was just after my engine had lost Cylinder No1 to bore score and most of the pistons had some evidence of detonation on them which may/may not have been as a result of the 900+ map. I mean a previous owner could have been using low octane fuel for all I know, causing the damage years before I owned it but I wanted to play it say until I could get better IC's, plugs and mapping sorted.

Hi Ian,

Re humidity, ll ask my tuning company about that to see what they say, but my own view is that any benefit of additional moisture in the air, would be wiped out instantly by the increased heat, such that it goes completely the opposite way & has an negative affect, especially for dyno work. Maybe out in the open road though, the humidity might not be such a bad thing, as the car is driving through 'fresh' air vs the conditions when doing dyno work.

Interesting point though, as i always had in my head, especially when i was living back in Scotland was that the best day for max "performance" would be one of those really cold, crisp, dry winter days with blue sky, but maybe the ideal condition would be a really cold day with a lot of moisture in the air, ie, a typical cold, gloomy day in the uk in winter. Theres probably a temperature/ humidity crossover point somewhere, when one condition is better than the other & then it switches around.

Cheers
Roy

Just had my car mapped for the Wagners - made 930hp and 1125nm - I've updated my "readers rides" thread in the main index of the forum with the graphs.

The torque curve with the Wagners didn't change much low down (3k rpm to 6k rpm) where the KWE's kept pace (similar curves, on boost at similar rpm etc - Wagners were 500rpm earlier) but at the top end the Wagners were leaps and bounds better than the KWE, able to reach a new 7500rpm redline with ease as opposed to the 6500rpm redline for the KWE's which were dropping off a cliff by 6250rpm due to temps and flow restrictions.

MRC have changed their dyno so the software/print-out is different between this run and all the previous ones so I've not got an overlay to show the difference but effectively the better flow and cooling of Wagners is pretty obvious.

Those are very nice curves Ian, you must pleased with that. Huge area under the torque curve.

Do you know what boost you're running now?

Hi Nick, ALL THE BOOST!!!!! :D

Sadly I've no idea as I've no independent interior gauge and I haven't logged it with VCDS yet to find out either. Might be something I look at after I ditch this bloody awful head-cold/man-flu I've got with it's "Not Covid but looks, acts and tastes just like Covid" symptoms (PCR negative).

Great curves there Ian, i bet your happy with that.

Re your map without your WMI mapped in, is that the run file 9 on your graph, or is there another graph for that map?

Cheers
Roy
