What a transformation!

After owning my C6 for almost two years, and nearly trading it in for a new C7 earlier this year, I decided to 'invest' some money in mods on the C6 instead. I like the car, and always thought it was a decent step up from the C5, the only thing lacking was a little nimbleness in the bends and the instant aggressive acceleration of a stage 3 C5.

So, what have I had done?

- H&R Arbs on hard setting
- KW coilover spring kit
- Custom 3" exhaust with X-pipe and secondary decat
- BMC air filters
- MRC Remap and gearbox map

Wow. What a difference. It's gone from a quiet, rather sedate car that felt heavy and a little dim witted in the bends, to a proper weapon. Lovely deep roar on WOT and a baritone rumble on tick-over, without sounding OTT. Acceleration is much more instant, and at the higher ends of the rev range it just flies. It can't be too far off my Stage 4 GTR with 650 horses. Handling and turn-in are much improved, car feels much lighter in the bends, much flatter with less roll, responding much more quickly to steering inputs. Overall the car is transformed and is now a car that I can't wait to drive again. Also, and most importantly, it closes the gap between the C7 so much that I'm no longer bothered about a change until my car is much older and getting tired. It's honestly that good.

Anyone considering modding their C6, but hesitant to do so, I thoroughly recommend going for it. It's a total transformation and makes the C6 a formidable road car, that now goes, turns and sounds like it should. Just brilliant.

Big thanks to Doug at MRC, as always.

what numbers did you make at MRC?
How much did the ARB's and KW's cost you if you don't mind me asking?

Not really in it for numbers, they mean so little - however it made 756ps and 1068nm on the MRC dyno.

I bought both the KWs and the H&R ARBs on eBay.de - the KWs were £630 inc postage, the H&Rs were £305 inc postage.

Thanks for that! Great numbers too by the way. I've had mine a year now and still not had it tuned. Definitely getting done this summer. Just need to service and fit some decats before I get to MRC. Can't wait!

It's around £1500 for a Stage 2 engine map with a Gearbox map. If you do "everything" it's about £2200-ish (Air Filters, Secondary de-cat, 2x maps, health check,& labour)

The only bit I haven't done yet is the arbs. All the other bits as you say do transform the car. It might be my next job just to see how much it helps on the bends.

Yep, really worth doing. I did them first, and they made more of a difference than the springs tbh. Springs just helped cosmetically.
