Secondary cats removal
Secondary cats removal
Quick one - Does the C6 Milltek system include replacement of the secondary cats with a straight through pipe, leaving only the primary cats in the downpipes?
Thanks,
M.

Re: Secondary cats removal
I don't think so. I have a Milltek cat back and requested the decat pipes. They are being fitted Thursday but not Milltek
Re: Secondary cats removal
Thanks. Who makes the decat pipes then?
Cheers.

Re: Secondary cats removal
MRC can supply de-cat pipes for £1k but I've no idea who makes them, it could be Milltek or it could be Barry the bodger, I don't know.

Re: Secondary cats removal
I think they are a lot less than £1K!!! I thought from memory they were more like £350 fitted? Anyway, I'd just call MRC and ask. Re: Secondary cats removal
Roughly £450 fitted not sure of the make though will find out tomorrow
Re: Secondary cats removal
Ah, slight mis-understanding, a set of De-Cat "downpipes" from MRC is £1k, plus a days fitting (£550 labour) plus mapping (£???).R33 wrote:I think they are a lot less than £1K!!! However, the 2nd cat "bypass" is £450 + £150ish fitting + mapping (£???) but they buy them from Supersprint in Italy for only £350, cheeky buggers!

Re: Secondary cats removal
Or just take it to an exhaust place and have some 2.5" pipe welded in to bypass the cats with two 02 extenders... no more than £100 i wouldnt dream of paying £350+ for a bit of pipe with flanges.

Re: Secondary cats removal
Does anyone know without me piping he car up on the lift, does the standard cat section have a join in it or does it require cutting to fit these? Be handy if they can be swapped in and out for mot ect

Re: Secondary cats removal
I think (could be wrong though so don't take my word) that you need to cut one end ,you should still.pass MOT though as you will.still have primary cats , far as I know the secondary are thee due to European stricter emission rulesrs6_sid wrote:Does anyone know without me piping he car up on the lift, does the standard cat section have a join in it or does it require cutting to fit these? Re: Secondary cats removal
correct, you need to cut one end (had these fitted recently by MRC)
a little more 'throaty' gave about 30hp more when fitted with race filters, but the stage 2 tune made the big difference.
my local dealer is happy to mot pass my newly secondary de-catted car too

Re: Secondary cats removal
did you run without the map for a while then with the decats fitted ,if so any dash lights,i will fit mine myself then book in for the stage 2 remap but depending on when i can fit them and when they can book me in could mean running with just a stage 1 map for a whilepcorpe wrote:correct, you need to cut one end (had these fitted recently by MRC)
