@FUBAR... no - like I said BMC filters vertically - this setup on your photo is not really goof - in my opinion...because it's just hot air there...

The filters are almost vertical in the pic. And yes I agree, hot air is not good at all. To me it looked like they removed the top of the airboxes to illustrate the new filter solution. It looks like the cone air filters are built into the OEM airbox.

Just trying to understand your solution thats all.

On the photo I can see, that the filterbox open on the downside...

I do not use these kind of filters... I use the regular BMCs

i would say from my experience of tuning other cars , not started on my 6 is in theory that would be worse in many ways , have less surface area than the standard filter , if you run with the lid on it you will get poor air flow which is a huge factor in getting more power from less boost and finally suffering from mass heat soak if its fully open , id say it would have negligible improvement over a standard filter

what needs designing is a complete carbon or coated intake to reduce air temps would be a worthwhile marginal gain

Hey...

unfortunately I have to put the boxes out and open them to make a photo...
From upside you can't see mods - they are made inside...

I will post some photos at the next filter service (clean-up, oil)

It's tricky and risky, but not hard...
