Hi All

Im very new to the forum and I have a quick question. I am so torn between buying this http://www.bramleyweb.co.uk/carsales/de ... e/9671.htm or for a similar price a BiTDI A6 and be sensible. My Dilemma is in the future I would love to have a car for myself with some power but of course I have a family and my wife has a car and I don't really want three cars.

To summarise

RS6 Avant Plus form Bramley Motors
A6 Bitdi and be sensible
S6 and go somewhere in between?

Any help would be very appreciated!

Thanks posting.php?mode=post&f=47#

Mike

Pretty sure Bradley's have had that car a while so you would probably be able to get a decent deal.

As for which one - really depends what you want vs what you need out of the car. Some quick pointss which you probably know: RS6 is great all rounder and will keep you smiling, plenty of potential to modify, fairly solid car. On the flip side it's starting to get old tech-wise, running cost can be high and it's no sports car in the bends.
All comes down to what you want the car to be long term....

45k is a lot for a 2010 RS6.

18-24 month old S6 is the current bargain. Prices dropped to high 30s about 6-9 months ago and haven't gone any lower, possibly due to rarity and people realising what a bloody bargain they are?

When i bought my RS6 had similar questions to ask myself. I test drove both the RS and S The kick from the twin turbos did it for me and still does and mine is standard.

I like the idea of nice family car and load lugger. Drop everything off and off i go solo for some fun. i couldnt justify having a car just for me sat on the drive or in the garage most of the time.

The Bramley one is nice but Bramley aren't known for a deal. One of the guys on here just sold a very nice Sepang one worth putting out the question to others on here who might be thinking of selling

I went to Le Mans last June with my mate in his BiTurbo.

The BiTurbo is a great car and a great engine, it's rapid for a diesel and does great MPG, I filled up twice on route, he didn't fill up! As has been said the C7 is more modern and has a better more modern interior. His is air sprung and having driven it I think it broadly handles better and feels more nimble than the C6. All in all if you're thinking with your head the C7 is the right choice.

Now the thinking with your heart bit, the RS6 is an RS and you can't argue with that, it's also much much faster which if you are a petrol head is pretty important. I certainly wouldn't swap my car for his and in my current way of thinking would only swap my car for a C7 RS6. I think to be honest if he had the choice he'd rather have the RS6, he's currently looking at an F10 M5. My heart won my decision making process and I don't regret it for a second, I'd take the RS6 all day long :)

Agreed. Bargain. Such an underrated car.

What are the technical differences between the engine and gearbox in a C7 S6 / RS6? What power can you extract from a C7 S6 with a stage 2 map?

S6 is S-Tronic, so that ultimately constrains torque.

569BHP after map according to APR, and car and driver have already tested a standard pre-fl (420BHP) at 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. Makes sense at the price IMHO. I'd have one over a B8 RS 4/5 without a second thought.

You not get that off the ramp after the drop without scraping something! As a car it'd be as much use as a choco fire guard.
