Re: Weight reduction - C6 RS6
Yer that's what I was thinking, so only thing we could do is reduce the spinning weight, brake disks and wheels? But... Percentage difference if my 180kg bike and its 18kg wheels is 10%. 2000kg car and 40kg wheels. 2%! Might not make any difference.

Hi Ahmed / folks of RS246,
I'm am a newbie living in Dubai. Sorry to hijack your thread (which i'm am genuinely interested in by the way), however after recently buying a standard model after reading this forum for ages, I have been searching high and low for someone to fettle my chariot in the near future - Can you put me in touch with your man in Dubai? - Is it a company or is he a one man band?
Also, if you are aware of anyone with an intimate knowledge of these cars for servicing purposes i'd be very happy to hear from you.
As for the rest of the forum members - this place is about as good as it gets so thanks from a previously, invisible viewer and looking forward to many future posts having now collected my beast.
Thanks in advance Lee

Re: Weight reduction - C6 RS6
Has anyone put an RS6 (C6) on some scales?
Would be interesting to see the F:R split.
As for weight.. a fully stripped RS6 would be pretty cool. But only to us!
I think if you really went to town 400-500kg is possible.
One for the lottery win. Saloon with ceramics, strip all ICE, seats, headlining, carpets, belts, airbags etc.
Full cage, lighter dampers, wheels, Perspex for the glass, carbon bonnet and boot, delete AC and heater.
Lighter exhaust, turbos, I/C, remove all engine dressing.
Perhaps some gearbox upgrades too.

Re: Weight reduction - C6 RS6
I agree but for for all that hassle and cost you could probably have a 1000+bhp Gallardo, I know which one my lotto money would go on. Well probably neither actually, it would be 458 speciale time!GC1978 wrote:Has anyone put an RS6 (C6) on some scales?

Ah come on Chris. Imagining doing a gt3rs in the corners as well as the straights! That would be some sight to be hold!RS6chris! wrote:

My guess though is with the best will in the world, that's still not possible! Too much front weight bias in the engine, always going to under steer without maybe moving the seats back enough to move the whole engine back!!!
Ok ok ok I've got it! Rip out the back seats of the avant, rotate the engine 180degrees and plate it behind the front seats!

Trying to do a light weight C6 is like asking a power-lifter to go on a diet and win the 100m final.

As I say, that's a sight to behold
I saw an old golf with two engines! That's stupid too, but I still said "cool!".
Didn't want one of the those either.

Re: Weight reduction - C6 RS6
On the subject of double engined cars, do you remember seeing an Audi TT years ago with two engines? That was pretty mental.
Edit: http://www.mtm-online.de/en/highlights/details?id=25
Think that's one TT I'd allow myself to be seen in

Re: Weight reduction - C6 RS6
If you were actually serious,
Theres loads you could do to redress the weight balance, and move a lot of the weight that is furthest forwards - primarily a rear radiator conversion, oil coolers, intercooler etc could all be moved to the boot........and it doesn't cost that much to do and you can sell alot of the bit that you remove to make it more than likely to be a zero cost.
Remove all interior including dashboard
All glass, headlining and trim
All electrics in passenger cabin - windows, speakers, etc etc
Headlights and their expensive active system
Original radiators, oil coolers etc
Original wheels
All of that lot would give you around 8k to play with
Replace with lightweight seat - £300
Large generic rads - £300
Oil coolers etc - £600
Intercooler - £500
Perspex windows custom made - £1200
Lightweight race rims - £2000
Fabrication for rear rads - £2500
LED lights - £500
If you wanted to go further then you could do carbon doors, panels, roof, boot and bonnet, then titanium exhaust, small race fuel cell, carbon props and driveshafts, carbon inlet and get the holesaw out !!! lol
But thats a bit extreme, would easily get 500kg out the thing though and still not be more than maybe 30k to do.
I'd be fairly confident I could build a 800bhp, 1300kg, widearched RS6 with decent handling and CoG for less than 80k including the cost of the donor car !!
