Morning
Just posted in the newbie section as I pick up my RS6 on the 16th so cant wait
Everyone has said get it remapped by MRC? what are the costs of this roughly? also can you di it without changing the exhaust? I am going to at some point but was wondering if the oem exhaust is very restrictive and no point in doing the remap until its changed?
Also anything else to look out for?
Cheers
Mike

For a stage 2 remap (which is a custom map for your car with multiple rolling road runs) it's about £900 but you really need the MRC air filters to take full advantage, this should give you over 700bhp on high octane fuel. The cost with filter inc VAT is around £1350 and will be the best money you've ever spent!
This is all I've had done to mine so far and it came out at 703.9PS and now feels like a totally different car. I was watching a Top Gear this morning whilst getting ready for work and Clarkson was driving the "new" 691bhp Aventador, it's hard to beleive my family estate has more BHP than an Aventador and compared to others on here I've just dipped a toe in the water of what's possible.
I'm still on a standard exhaust and the car feels exactly the same as before and makes no more noise or induction noise which is exactly what I wanted as it is a family car but boy when you press the loud pedal does it shift.
Next on the list for me is getting the MRC gearbox remap too as this is supposed to give quicker shifts but also lifts the rev limit in gear slightly so ultimately gives a little more power.

I too have the MRC stage 2 map with race filters and the gearbox map.
Before i had this done i removed the secondary cats this gives more grrrrowl and more torque.
my car produced 728PS and 1021Nm torque. The torque figure is so high due to the secondary been removed.
The cost from MRC is a lot of money to spend when you've only just bought your car but i am so glad i had it done.
I have never met a car that is quicker than mine yet. i have raced with 911 turbos, Farrari 430, Ferrari 458, B8 RS4, V10 R8.
there is literally nothing on the road that will touch it.
The only reason i havent changed my full exhaust sytem is due to cost and minimal gains.
A miltek system is like £1200 i think and you might get another 15hp! an extra 15hp on 700+ isnt going to make any difference whatsoever.
The secondary cat removal cost me £200 from my local exhaust place and the sound is perfect now.

I have / have had a few supercars myself. Just wonder how you 'raced' the Ferrari 458 for instance? A std 458 has 3,3sec 0-100kmh (0-62mph) and a top speed of 325Kmt in std form. Despite the Audi's somewhat higher bhp, its still a VERY heavy car. 2200kgs kurb weight? The Ferrari is 1425kgs. The audi has an Automatic gearbox with torque converter. Hmmmmm. I can do the maths. Ohhh, and in my very humble F430, which is very slightly tuned (Filters / ECU / Exhaust / Airboxes - maybe 520bhp) beats my RS6 in all disciplines. A 458 eats the F430 for BREAKFAST. My Gallardo (2wd conversion), which I just sold, whipped the ass of the RS6. Weight / aerodynamics and Torque converter is the biggest enemies of the RS6. Having said that, for a stationwagon, carrying 5 people in comfort, at very high speeds, the RS6 is probably one of the best at what it does. I do not regret getting it over the ML63 which was my plan. The only real contender to the RS6 is perhaps the X5M....

My meeting with a 458 was on a UK motorway from around 50mph upto FAST (rather not say what speed on a public forum)
The RS6 pulled a few car lengths on the 458, the 458 is the closed car i have raced against but it couldn't keep up. Maybe the driver wasn't in race mode in the 458 i dont know but that was my one and only experience.

I rest my case, no further questions your honor!

Just to pick up on this point, with the locking torque converter you don't have the huge losses here.
I think in a straight line a 700hp RS6 would beat or hold it's own with the best of the supercars. Corners are the only thing a lightweight like the 458 would be better at.
By the way, if anyone has a MRC tuned C6 and lives near southampton, please take me for a drive!

I have no doubt that from a standing start over 1/4 mile the 458 will be quick as its lighter.
Like i say from my experience of a rolling start from around 50mph the RS6 had the advantage.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure. A 500hp C5 can do 0-60 in under 4 seconds, Add 200 bhp and a better gearbox and I think they'd get to 60 in around the same time. Just like power, weight isn't everything. You'd have to be pretty harsh on the gearbox with throttle/brake to get a good launch mind.

Managed 4.0 dead in my 535PS C5 and 3.8 in my 763PS C6, both measured with Vbox.

ah, not quite then. Interestingly your 763ps C6 has exactly the same power to weight as a 458.

Here is a 1/4 mile time of my RS6, not my quickest 1/4 mile but this is the only 1 i have that shows a 0-60 time.

For matey boy in the glorious Italia....I have just done (on a private runway), 35mph to 140mph in a sniff under 8secs. It was 24deg C and the car in sport mode (as opposed to manual).....and I have stuffed DV's...
How does that compare?
Not sure it is fair to compare the 2 cars? They are aimed at massively different markets and from the price alone, mean very different things to different people.

Parking the car vs car debate for a while
Interesting to see that you don't really need to change the exhaust? Must admit I was a little surprised the car wasn't as loud as I imagined a v10 to sound but also maybe that's not a bad thing? I like the sound of the exhaust place in Newcastle I have seen on here for £600 ish?
I suppose what wins more power vs more sound? I will see how the bank balance holds up next month.
On the plus point it's only cost £350 to insure it which surprised me.
On the vs likes been said I don't think the rs6 would in the real world do very well against a decent driver in a 458 but I can't get my 2 frenchies and my 2 brats in a 458
My previous cars which have been a 500 bhp r33 a 600 bhp r32 and my mental 800 bhp supra and a few high power 300zx's so really looking forward to a nice standard 572 and hopefully with a remap over 700

You will get bored of 572bhp.
Over 700 makes the car better without a doubt....but again you soon get used to it.
Gotta ditch the OEM exhaust it's <beep>....get to AAS in Newcastle....best £600 odd quid I've spent on the car.
