What's the worst that could happen?

Ok so I'm still wrestling with do I or don't I remap the car? It's still got 12 months warranty and just concerned that if something went wrong that was major it wouldn't be economical to fix the car. This is only based on Internet horror stories at Audi dealer prices.
I'm coming from the GTR world where the cars have been very reliable (not saying the C6 isn't) and the cost of the average engine rebuild 6/7k and that's with some upgraded parts and 3-4k for a gearbox repair. Obviously these prices aren't nothing but it's not the end of the world. I did speak to two tuning places that said that there rS6 remaps where 'undetectable' but again I'm not sure I fully believe them tbh.
I'm just Just wondering about much would it cost if the worst happened I.e for an engine rebuild, or gearbox rebuild, turbo failure etc etc at a good Indie perhaps for example MRC, unit20 and the like?
Does anyone have experience of this? Or am I better just keeping the car standard, perhaps just an exhaust where things are unlikely to go wrong or could still be argued to be fixed under warranty.
Any thoughts or advice from members or tuners would be great.
