Need to know what you guys think

Post by Dec369 » Mon Jan 13, 2014 12:14 am

Hi I am dec, I have just turned 22 & currently have a b7 rs4 but I would absolutely love to get my hands on the c6. Got my b7 about 6 months ago & I am loving every minute of it but I want a c6 badly :(

So my question is, when do you think the rs6 will end up below £30,000 ? Really want it to be a black saloon ( most for sale are avants ) :/

£35,000 for a good one or what I am looking for is to much for me at the moment.

Hello

22 and a RS4?....well done.

22 and a RS6.....insurance will cripple you.

If you are lucky enough to get one prices aren't moving much at all....there are cars for less than 30k but they are early high mileage avants....saloons have yet to drop below 30k and is suggest it will be a while yet before they do.

Got it when I was 21 haha :) to be honest i was shocked to get the insurance so cheap, was only £1298 & I had 1 NBC

Yeh I have seen a few of the high milers & don't want to end up with a dog. What are the running costs like compared to the rs4 ? Not had any problems with this. Bit breaks & tyres soon but that just wear & tear

It'll cost more to run on every front.

Tank of premium 105ish, 300 miles. Discs, pads etc etc all cost, to be expected on a 570 horse, two tonne car.

I agree re prices, especially on saloons, won't see these south of 30k for a while yet, the low volume, less than a hundred will keep prices up.

22, but aren't you the guy with no financial future who we lectured when you came to buy the RS 4? The one that still lives at home?

If so, then stick with the 4 and make some sound financial decisions before jumping into an even bigger money pit.

If its not you then my apologies.

Edit; it was you we started lecturing. Looks like you're on a slippery slope if you're wanting a '6.

Yep it was me but I am not being funny mate please don't tell me what to do with my money, I have no reason to save for a house or anything yet. I can afford to enjoy this kind of car, when the time comes for house ect then the car will go & I will have plenty of money to do what I want / need

Take a look at the various threads in the C6 forum. Some pretty pricey repairs are now being seen.

You need to figure out whether you can fuel, maintain, insure and cover some big bills.

Make no mistake, if these cars go wrong, and they will, they will bend you over. It's OK being dismissive of the cash until you've got a car that's feckered and needs five grand spending on it.

Depends on how many miles you do?

Believe me petrol costs are terrible, but it doesn't bother me.

From my experience for the cheapest job, servicing, minor repair/fault will be £500min.

Tyres budget £1000 for four

Brakes £2000k all round

50-60k service needs plugs...very expensive.

Gearbox and diff oils need doing although Audi say otherwise.

Warranty your call..£2000k???....I didn't get one and got burnt(although apart from oil seal issue my car has been sweet)

You can research on here about known issues etc...not that many so far.

Good luck if you can afford one.

I've found over the years that buying the car is never an issue with many options such as finance etc etc...

It the running costs that cripple people.....ive see people buying high spec motors then a year or so down the line you see odd tyres on car or cheap tyres, no servicing etc etc.

As said buying a RS6 C5 or C6 is Something that we do knowing the pitfalls, the highs the lows(a there's plenty of them believe me) but I keep coming back for more!!!...your either in for the long haul or you're not IMO?

Part of me kinda likes the fact I'm driving something special and the fact it could blow up at any minute and bum rape my wallet!!!!....but Audi RS is under my skin now and I can't help meself.

Good luck.

Less than £800.00 for me, I'm a year older than the OP with 2 years NCB and one claim in my old BMW in 2011 at £2,500. Was £1,300 at 22.

Just enjoy your RS 4 until the C6 saloons drop to under £30k... It'll probably be this year.

I've been without mine for a few days and I really really miss it, phenomenal car. :(

Sorry Nickyboy, but it's the lad's money and this is no place to be lecturing anyone about how to spend their cash. He's not asked for advice on affordability, and the fasct that he's owned an RS4 for 6 months suggests he knows what he's getting himself into. You remember what it was like at that age - having a nice car IS the top priority, sod saving for a house. He's got plenty of time to grow up later! :D

The thread title is 'Need to know what you guys think'

Hence playing out my thoughts.

I'm not that much older than the OP, maybe in mind I am turning 50 already though and hence my thoughts!

Never ask me about buying a car as I will just say yes do it ... I said that to a close friend 30 years ago when he asked me about buying a Porsche like my first 944 ..

Any specialist car has a huge money drain potential .. I had a 944s rip a cam belt and destroy the engine so much Porsche UK HQ could not remove the valves to fix the head .. hence new head needed .. repair bill was over half the value of the car (luckily Porsche helped .. a Lot!).. go into it with open eyes and possibility of BIG bills

The C6 RS6 is a fantastic car .. I love mine so much so, its the only car I have had an MOT'd done on it for at least 15 years .. its a keeper .. however they can and do have HUGE bills to keep them going .. tyres, brakes, a few special services . however generally they are bullet proof ..

Be prepared ... (as every Boy Scout is)

Haha thanks for sticking up for me :thumb: I know they are a money pit & things can go wrong & cost lots, you would be an idiot if you didn't budget for that. But yep I am young enough to have my fun & once the time comes I will get a house. If i didn't do it now I may never have the chance to.
