New Tyres?....ideas?

I'm due four new tyres any time now.

I'm currently running Dunlop OEM.

Came with car when I bought it so know no different.

Any recommendations??....fancy trying something else?

Michelin?
Pirelli?
Good Year?

Or stick with Dunlops again?

Any feedback appreciated?

Not concerned about cost.

Thanks in advance

Chris.

Amar has just changed, I'd go the same way. GY F1 Assym 2. By far the best tyre I've had and I'd stick them on everything where they'd fit.

I too can vouch for the GY F1 Assym 2. I've always put them on all my cars and will swap to them for my RS6 when they are due for a change. I've also found two places as a good starting place to find the best deal. You can try either blackcircles or etyres.

Just a quick heads up when looking for prices.

Asda now have a tyre site the same as blackcircles thats a fair bit cheaper.

eg.

Dunlop Sportmaxx 275/35/20Z XL - £246 each from Asda or £276 from Blackcircles both including local fitting.

Whoa...
4 x GY F1 A/S 2 from asda. 775 incl fitting.
Blackcircles was 860.
Being done at the same places... (Mainly Halfords).
Now... the question is... do I trust Halfords to fit them for a saving of 85 quid ;)

The good years look as if they have quite a large sidewall??

Has anyone any pics fitted?

My car is sat on its arse and I don't want any rubbing issues?

No, but I'd get the tyres and take them to my local friendly tyre fitter. 230 a corner a mytyres.

Fitting tyres isn't rocket science.....it's the damage they "may" do to your alloys that's the worry?

They will do hundreds of "fleet vehicles" so will get complacent I suppose?

I generally buy rubber then go to local fitter on industrial estate I know who understands how I feel about my car.

Exactly my view. My local place is petrol head mad so they know to look after your pride and joy.

My Goodyears are still sitting here awaiting fitment! I paid around £1,100 from Blackcircles, maybe a tiny bit under.
Fitted my new 7 spokers this morning with the Contisport's they came with, waiting on some TPMS sensors before I fit the Goodyears. The car is going to Audi for on the 9th, for at least seven days they've told me, hello engine and box pull?! Then straight to BMW for two days once it is back to have the wheels done in silver, and TPMS sensors fitted. Will report back then, have booked wheels for 30th as it could be at Audi longer, I should be able to let you know if they fit OK end of this month/early Feb.

P.S If anyone wants some perfect 275/35/20 102Y XL ContiSportContact2's, mint, only 3mm worn, no curbing - Please PM me, they will be available when the Goodies go on. :)

I'm a fan of Michelin Pilot Super Sports - grip, performance and mileage/wear rate. Have them on my GT3RS too. Not tried the GY F1's so can't compare the two I'm afraid, but better than OEM fit tyres. I get them from CostCo who do a great job fitting them.

See my posts about this subject previously and MPSS as don't have time to regurgitate the reviews :bigwave:

Cheers

I had the MPSS on my old RS 6, fantastic in the dry, silly grip, however, not the best grip in the wet I found which is why I went for the GYEF1's, Footlong of the C5 forum made the switch from MPSS to GYEF1's, too.

That 53p seal, when it went for it's MOT and health check at another stealer they said no leak - same ones who messed up my DRC replacing a wheel bearing! LOL

It is going to a trusted master tech in London to check out and repair/advise... (He has three others in for the same leak from the seal)!

*And C6 values drop*
