Please Tell me I havent just done something stupid

Hi,
I've been on the C5 forum for a while. I just put a deposit down on a C6 and will be putting my C5 down as a P/X.
Does anyone know the history behind this car? Originated from Lake District Audi according to the sticker on the back. FASH, apparently.
The exhaust sounded nice at tickover, better than the C5 Miltek res in my opinion. It's done 73K. I hope these things are good for astronomical miles.
The engine had a fast clacking sound, I was told this is normal? It was nearly silent otherwise.
It has a Nurburgring sticker on the back, if that helps..
Is it possible to tell the MMI version from this photo?
There was condensation on the inside, are these prone to leaking or have AC drain problems like on the C5?
I will hopefully get Grizz down to take a look at it before the exchange happens.
I have a few days to cancel if it's a known dog. Any comments extremely welcome.
One more for good measure, and yes, I know it's missing a wheel:
Thanks.

Hi Audiacious,
With the bonnet up,the high pitched clacking from the engine is normal. sounds like a sewing machine on idle. The noise is coming from the mechanical direct injection twin fuel pumps which run off the camshaft. You don't hear this noise inside the cabin because of all the sound deadening padding on the bonnet
As to the condition of the rest of the car, Grizz is a guru and will let you know what you might be buying into condition and service wise costs. These are not a real cheap car to run.
A fantastic car, especially with a stage one map and air filters taking it to 700bhp
cheers,
john

^^ Thanks for the feedback. Thats good to hear about the clacking.
As for the costs, I'm used to that with the C5.
I was considering a stage II but that's for the future...

To me this car screams out "used and abused" but who knows. If it's got FASH then get it Audi warrantied. That should give you some peace of mind.

If I were you..... I would take off the plastic under try under the engine and check for any oil leaks, especially at the back of the engine....2008 I'm pretty sure it'll have 2G. If it has the small joystick on top of the main control knob, it's 3G....there's a thread on here telling you all about it. If you can, get a
VCDS cable and plug into the diagnostics, this will tell you the history and any previous faults.....had I done this when looking at mine....I wouldn't have bought it......other than that.....they are great cars and I love mine to bits !

As said above
Doesn't look that bad
High mileage doesn't seem an issue for these cars.
OE on plate indicates car may have been an Audi car when new.

May have been a press car, thankfully Google only throws up your advert.

Not a 3g mmi, you can tell by the buttons next to the screen.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I will be popping into the dealer tomorrow to have a trawl through the paperwork.
Does the fact that it's an OE plate mean that it should have a good spec? It had working TV, electric boot close and a parking camera (well at least the lens was visible by the number plate). I didn't check for things like adaptive cruise, which would be nice. I will see what turns up in the paperwork tomorrow.
I must say that I'm now becoming more excited than apprehensive. If I can get a decent inspection done and that comes back positive, then great. If it comes back negative I can ask them to fix any minor issues for me, or walk away.

It doesn't have adaptive cruise, not sure what prices C6's are going for these days. Tbh, unless you're getting it for a steal, I'd be buying one from an Audi dealer.

Amar, can you tell from the pictures or was it not an option in 2008?

Think you can see adaptive cruise in the front grill.

Looks alright to be honest. These car should cope with high mileage no problem as they were massively over engineered to ensure they didn't suffer from the same weaknesses as the C5

Having said that there have been a few issue creeping up now and one of the most costly to resolve labor wise is the o ring issue that Chris suffered from. The part is something like 53p but £2k in labor to get the engine out to replace it! So just be cautious and either have a kitty for that type of repair or try and get a warranty.
I don't think it's an Audi registered car just from that window
Sticker, most dealers will put that in when selling a car. Be careful removing it though as these can lift the heating elements and break the circuit I've been told. Plus I believe a lot of the Audi registered cars came with Silver seats and nutmeg trim.
It's an 08 estate so will only have 2G as others have stated.
Best advice re the ring
Sticker is check the brakes and tyres. It's the weight of an oil tanker so when putting it on a track it will eat through disks/pads/tyres like no tomorrow. To replace these is big money so if you can make sure they are nearly new or get them replaced in the deal.
Also check the service history and make sure the plugs have been changed at that mileage, in fact I would be pushing for another set as part of the deal. The original spec from Audi stated 40K for plug change but they revised it to 60K. I went in the middle and changed mine at 50K but it's a big bill once again due to the labour cost, about £600.
I can't really see from the grill if the radar unit is there, looks more like just part of the subframe to me. If you can get a head on picture you will see it. Plus the dash is different with lights around the speedo and a distance setting on the stalk I believe.
There should be a
Sticker in the boot I believe with a number of codes on it and replicated on the service book. This is the options ordered and fitted at build. There are a few posts on here that will translate those into the actual options and most dealers don't seem to know what came standard and what were optional extras!
