Hi,

In the market for a C6 RS6. I have seen one on autotrader for circa 26k. I know I should get a warranty on these cars, but what do you make of it.

I guess you guys are the best ones to ask.

Thanks

If its the one I'm thinking its an insurance write off. Be wary!

Hi,

Its not that one, there is a new one on, silver one (avus).

What do you think I should be looking out for? Or should I even bother to go have a look?

Thanks

FON.

Warranty should be about 2500 notes and expect a service and maybe tyres and/or brakes in the first year of ownership. Still want one?

Assume it's an early car. On an OY plate?

Still cheap. Bam is right re the other costs. Also note some of the other issues that have cropped up recently, specifically the oil leak due to perished o-ring.

Have you seen it?

I suspect not on the best condition for 26k

It has to have FASH

Good discs and pads

Good tyres

Or it could be a potential money pit?

It might be due all these items that's why it's cheap as there's a couple of grand there straight away!

Chris

Its a 09 plate, tyres are recent and just had new brake pads at audi. Full audi history, needs a service in 4k miles, its currently on autotrader.

Then I definitely smell a rat!! Look at the money Audi want for the same car, 10k more.

Sounds like you want it. Go hand over the cash and enjoy it till you find out why it is soooo cheap.

You'll need warranty on it for a start. Budget close to 2k.

A little too much 'nay-saying in here. Possibly people more concerned about maintaining their residuals than anything? That's not to say you shouldn't go in eyes wide open though. However...

Mondial Warranty on an 09 with +60k miles starts at around £1,200 for the Limited (driveline). Comprehensive would be £1,500. Those are based on 15k miles a year, and with a £250 excess. I put a post up a few months back with a breakdown of the quotes for lapsed policies < and > 60k miles and with varying levels of excess etc. Will try and link it.

At that mileage, and with a service due, you WILL be needing the spark plugs done at that visit. That will be £600 on it's own, plus whatever you need for the Oil/Inspection and any other parts.

Otherwise - it sounds a good deal on paper. Has it got proper Audi history? You could call up AUK and get the history and find out what work has been done. If the tyres and brakes are good, and it has been serviced well, you can get one of the lapsed Mondial policies for the numbers above and also budget for the service and you're in an RS6 for under £30k.
