The C5 engine can easily withstand over 600 bhp all day long, the main restriction is a poor design plagued by cooling issues and a restrictive manifold design. (I wont bring the gerbox into this debate!) The engIne itself is very strong.

By the way, my car produced 540ps and that was before the Wagners, so I'd say easily 550ps+ on stock engine and induction.

Mart.

ok then

yes, then a V10 RS 6 (nudenut) pulled 778PS with a map, filters and zorst on MRC dyno

so, the 4.0TT is qoing to make up another 200PS

ok then

Standard C7 S6 has already been proved to be as quick as a tuned C6 ;)

according to who?

that stupid american magazine that said it did 0-60 in 2.2 seconds ?

it will be quicker to 100 with S-Tronic and Launch ... after 100 ... bye bye

ps. golf, is it now about the time you start C6 hating and C7 loving, like you did with the C5 vs. the C6

What's the torque limit on the new S-Tronic box? That might bugger up mapping somewhat.

I don't get the fuss, if the C7 is better then all well and good, it should be as a development. Won't be cheap though, I reckon 100k plus.

But in terms of out and out power I'm not sure how anyone could claim that should both V10 and new V8 be tuned to within an inch of their lives that V10 would come second.

hard to compare out and out performance at the moment given that the engine will be smaller but in stock OEM state the V8 will be on par with the V10 and equal on power - presume the final C7 RS version of the engine to be better than what the Bentley Conti has:
http://www.bentleymotors.com/models/new ... ification/

Anyway, surely it will really go down to the whole package - C7 lighter than outgoing C6 could, potentially, be a big differentiator when it gets down to a drag race, cerntainly the gearbox will play a part along with torque vectoring that is bound to feature etc..... all speculation really.

End of the day, V10 is a mighty beast of an engine.

Good question

The B5, using c5 RS6 turbos can make around 650 PS and that is on a tiny v6. Those turbos can flow enough air to support way more than 535ps. Maybe the C5 scene needs some new tuners?

Very true.

The magazine tested on a piece of road somewhere with a Pbox...hardly a level test track. I think they said the quarter mile time was 12.1 which is fantastic but until I see a customer run 12.1 @ the pod or a real strip here I won't get excited

If someone said I had to choose between a C6 & a C7 for free and I could only drive it for five years and then had to give it back I would hands down take the V10tt. Such an insane car...truly epic.

I hope the C7 RS6 has more power than 580 BHP. It needs it to be quicker than the M5 with 550 BHP. The C5 RS6 was slower than the E39 M5, stock for stock because of the losses from quattro.

Been in the new M5 at vmax, with similar engine, gearbox, weight and overall performance to what the new c7 will have......my c6 tuned would take it all day long from a standing start or roll on...with ease. No hope factor required. :bigwave:
Quattro in all seasons for Ass Kickin reasons.
