I can terminate now with a small cost of £600 or wait another two payments and that will be zero. I know I am trying to change cars early on within my current scheme which is always bad but I was a bit surprised that my current Audi is depreciated so fast :audibash: sign of the times I guess. Knew I should of brought a B8 and not a B7!
Don't get into the same situation on the new one - not long ago RS6s were losing almost £1000 a month, and when the new V8 RS6 is previewed I expect residuals to slide again. Know what you mean about B7 vs B8 - I looked at 3.0 TDI B7s when I was buying my B6 S4 (two years ago) but I'm glad I didn't - they have halved in price in two years!

36k is a lot more realistic than 40 though - there are better RS6s out there for 40k. 36k must be one of the cheapest in the approved network. Mugello wouldn't be my preference - its not going to as popular come resale as Daytona, Phantom or Sepang.

All i can say is...

DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hummed and harred for months about getting one...of course its all about what you can afford...negative equity can be worked around if the dealer wants too...

Use the "half way" rule in your exsting finance to get out of it...its all above board and written into every car finance package..its one way to get out of negative equity..and DOESNT effect your credit rating.

That car is nice..unusual spec and its not far of fully loaded!!!!...bar ceramics etc..

As said take one out for a extended test drive...and i suggest you will get one.

I love mine..its took me a couple of months to really gel with it but im totally smitten now....a future classic?...defo an estate car with a Lambo V10???...HELL YEAH!!!

+1

When I started looking during the 2nd half of last year, the general opinion was that they would be on main dealer forecourts for under £30k by Christmas, I bit the bullit in Dec and have had 4 months of fun and not 4 months of wondering how much lower the prices will go. If you can afford it, get the right deal and as said, you are not into negative equity
GO FOR IT......... They may not be the most nimble Audi in the world but they make up for it in other areas. Enjoy your 1st test drive :jump:

The depreciation on such a monster car is not lost on me, there are not too many people out there who can/will be willing to justify a 5ltr V10 estate car second-hand so I will be going into this with my eyes open. My current car depreciation although slightly disappointing is not too surprising as I am looking at jumping out part way through the PCP term and that is never good. However I did call yesterday to ask about termination and it is possible at this stage although I'm very slightly under the 50% payment I can make this up. The dealer was the one that told me about this clause in the finance in a 'nod nod wink wink, didn’t hear it from us' stlyee so he is keen to help me get into this car and get it off his books.

I guess it won't be long before the RS6 takes another nose dive in value but I'm looking at future dealer trade in when I do decide to change. This is the type of car I have been looking for and building up to for ages as I need something to take large model aircraft (my other hobby), family on hols whilst still having fun when I want. The running costs have always put me off though and I'm trying to relate the costs to my current car. Fortunately I have just had a nice promotion and pay adjustment at work so I have some more disposable in my hand so I figure if I'm going to do it now is the time.

Long term ownership is something I am thinking about as the car has 40K miles on it now so I'll be looking at double that in 3-4 years’ time. Hoping in that time the car remains without major fault as so far the track record is good but I will get extended warranty to cover it as there are too many large expensive things in this one. Mate of mine has a BM 335 and that is always having turbo or some such trouble so hoping for better reliability then that!!

Tempted as I am to have an extended test drive I'm holding out until I have so firmness around the figures as I know I will lose my 'walk away' advantage if I drive it

Deprciation on any car is always there no matter what.

Ive had loads of cars on finance over the years.....bought some cash....i must have lost thousands....i try not to think about it!!.. :boohoo:

Ive had cars traded in with Negative Equity and always sorted something out to get me in the car i wanted.

Similar to you ive had a few promotions over my car owning years..and luckily always been able to afford to "upgrade" to IMO a better car.

At the end of the day its what you can afford each month?

IMO its only a select few who can afford to buy expensive cars outright..finance is a tool that most people use to get the car they want..thats life.

Although the analogy i tend to use is "buying an expensive car is easy and most people can do it,BUT running it is the real expensive part"... :bigblink:

I wish you luck in your search!!! :beerchug:

If your monthly income allows you to buy on finance and run something like this then do it.

I was lucky enough to buy my RS4 outright. with my income I can just about afford to run it but not with finance too.
Should I land a better paid job I'd love to upgrade but with what my car is worth at mo I'll probably jut tune it up more.

I 'think' I'm ok on the finance and running costs! We will see how broke I am if I can do this deal  I'm lucky that I only work about 10 miles away so the drive is short, although this can work against big lumps like this. A few years back I had a Mitsi FTO and lived and worked about the same distance and the fuel economy was terrible, when I moved about 30 miles away it was much better as the car was getting warm and having a run. On the flip side my company HQ is about 40 miles and I have to go there every other week so that should give it a chance to warm up plus we have many other offices scattered around. On average I've done about 1000 miles a month but that is coming down now but you never know when circumstances will change.

I try to look at a car as just a commodity that I pay for each month and change every 3-4 years. That has worked well for the last 8 or so years but this has got me back into the type of car I actually want to own. Who knows and it's all down to the numbers.

I've taken my first step and put my beloved Ducati up for sale, very sad day for me but I might need the deposit money.

Just refreshed the dealer web page and the price has gone back up to a shade under £40K and they still haven't called me to talk numbers, obviously not that keen to get rid of it! The customer service people did call me this morning to check if I was happy with the way their sales team had dealt with me to which I reported I wasn't driving an RS6 yet so no

It was something like 35,987 when I looked? 40k is too much for that colour and mileage

Spot on, not sure why they have put it back up again as I think it was about right for the mileage. I actually like the colour so that part doesn't bother me :D

Hi Andy - as you're local to Tonbridge I presume that you've done business with them in the past... but personally, I've found that of recent times Tonbridge Audi are pretty poor on customer services (on the sales side). I used to deal with a guy there who has now left which is a real shame as did some cracking deals with him on past S4 cab and RS4 Avant... since then trying to get a decent sales person is diff at best. they will have people call you and send letters in the post but real results are hard to get out of them.

Think the change came about once it was sold from the Lindbrooke group to Inchape....

That particular RS6, i'm pretty sure they have had for a good 4-5 weeks already, maybe longer - good luck with them if you go for it!

I haven't done business with them before, they just happened to have this RS6 is and they are not a million miles away. Crawley is my closest dealer and both are part of the same group Inchcape group but I felt it better to deal direct. So far they are not winning any friends with me and so far I have left two messages for the sales guy to call me today as I happen to be at home.

I was very interested in this car when the price dropped to a fairer point for the mileage but when you have examples like this for a grand less and only 14500 miles, I think it is well over priced;

http://www.perrys.co.uk/audi-rs-6-5.0t- ... 5-22609176

Ok so the spec isn't so good but it is the more popular colour so resale will be easier and that mileage is fantastic! How much effect do the extras have on the price in reality? I don't believe a great deal but I could be wrong. I this current market and with petrol prices going through the roof I can't see these cars being easy to shift from a dealers forecourt as more people will chose a 3.0TDI for performance and be happy with the 40mpg plus.

I'll wait to see if he calls me today.....

Looks very tidy and nice low mileage...However spec doesnt look to clever...although to be fair i dont think the dealer knows much about spec reading the advert.
