I believe this is a big part of it. If you are known at the dealer and already have a relationship it's going to make the discussions, should they become tricky, a lot easier.

You are partially correct.... a full diagnostic scan is always conducted by Audi and sent off to Audi GMBH even if the warranty claim has nothing to do with e.g.: engine parts.

I wanted to check if my front ceramics discs pads are covered under the warranty because I have heard from someone that they are changing them to a new improved material and my friendly head tech advised that a full ECU scan will be conducted for Audi GMBH before a claim is put through....
Too much power is barely enough.

Ouch....that may move the goalposts. But in VAG's position I'd be doing the same. Need to save dollar, so if you're not obliged to pay out, why would you.

Thats exactly what my friend who works in the service dep at Audi said... that no matter what it comes in for it will get scanned and marked, then it'll get black flagged for being "modifed" and probably wont get the work done.

For me its a big risk laying out £1800-2000 on a warranty that could worst case be voided with no refund if i tried to claim.
Think i'll have to stick without as its just too much of a risk.

For my last warranty claim under the Mondial cover, the dealer had to submit the evidence for authorisation to Mondial directly.

I thought they only submitted the full diagnostics to Audi when the work is carried out as part of the original manufacturer's warranty... but maybe they do that regardless of who is authorising the repair just to keep a record?
