Has anybody tried this procedure:

Looks like it is supposed to work on 2G also.

Just to put this one to bed, there's no way of changing the code to enable mirror folding on the 4F (C6) A6 variant.

I tried doing it tonight and it's definitely a no go which is a shame.

Just finished installing the auto folding mirror feature on my car using an universal module.
Mirrors retract if the ignition is off and the doors are locked.
Unlocking the car the mirrors stay retracted and only extend once the ignition is switched on.
All other times mirrors remain in their last state. Everything works as before except you can not retract or extend the mirrors using the original mirror knob. Memory function, passenger mirror dipping on reverse and normal pan and tilt all work.
While it would be nice to retain the original extend and retract control function I'm not too worried about loosing it as it was only ever used to retract the mirrors when locking the car. :beerchug:

Sounds good.

Which module did you buy and was it difficult??

Perhaps an install guide??

This module

Not too bad to do. Biggest hassles are removing the door cards and running two wires from the drivers door to the passenger door. After that its soldering and heat shrinking.

Usual warning if you blow up your car not my fault, Proceed at your own risk. :biggrin3:

The how to guide is not a step by step but rather just notes on the important stuff. If you are handy with a soldering iron and removing panels its not too big a job and well worth the effort
