Pre-facelift vs. facelift reliability?

Post by TS811 » Thu Oct 23, 2025 10:11 am

Hello all,

Is there any evidence of pre-facelift C6 RS6s being less reliable than the facelift version? Or are they the same? From what I can tell the only difference is minor cosmetics (rear lights, 3G MMI, etc.). But in terms of reliability, would it be worth paying a premium for a facelift?

Thanks!

Other than being a few years younger, which is always an advantage, the changes made don't seem to have any noticeable effect on reliability from what I've seen from people posting on here.

As for a price premium, again it'd just be because the cars are slightly newer, and that for me at least would only make for a very small price difference between say a 2008 pre-FL and 2009 post-FL car etc, and that premium could very easily be reversed by simple "car condition" i.e. if the pre-FL is in better condition than the post-FL car for example.

Thanks!

Any thoughts on getting a high-mile RS6? 250-300k kms? I am of course budgeting for expensive repairs and maintenance. But do these cars still have legs after 300k kms? Would be a daily (mostly highway cruising) and can manage if the car is off the road from time to time for maintenance.
