Can't play music from phone

Post by Limited100 » Mon Mar 24, 2025 9:56 am

Hi all, I've got an Android phone, a Galaxy S10, and I'm just shocked that Audi forgot to install an AUX input.

How am I supposed to play music from my phone? I can't figure out BlueTooth and I bought an FM transmitter and can't access FM as it's only giving me DAB.

Are there any DAB transmitters out there?

Assuming that you've got an AMI port in your glovebox or centre console, you'll need to get a Tune2Air adapter. I got mine from Facebook marketplace, but should be some around on ebay or the like. Then you'd just set up the Bluetooth connection as per normal, set the Source to AMI and you should hear some sweet sweet music. Just a note from my experience though, each time I turn the car back on I need to change the Source to something else, then change it back to AMI for it to pick up the connection again

If you're going to use something like the Tune2Air with an Android phone just be aware that it "may" not display track info for songs (hit & miss) etc whereas an iPhone works perfectly.

There is a work around for android phones but it involves having to open "hidden" developer settings in your phone and mess about with the Bluetooth AVRCP settings as shown below -

"if the name and track info is not showing typically the fix is to activate developer options and change your Bluetooth AVRCP settings to a lower number (V1.4 seems to work best).
To activate developer options go to Settings - About phone then tap on the Build number 7 times (or google how to do it on your specific phone).
Once activated go to Settings - System - Developer options and find Bluetooth AVRCP Version to change.

Do this before connecting to the car."

***EDIT*** - I've tried various different AVRCP setting and none will allow any track info to be shown using my Android phone but all the steering wheel buttons control the audio correctly, and the centre console buttons also work correctly. My mates iPhone also works but does show all the track info as well, guess thats the "pain" of Audi etc being so heavily into Apple as a system back in the late 2000's.

I've been using a 160Gb iPod Classic as my main music source and, apart from its age (which is always a concern with a spinning disc drive device) its pretty much perfect. I could replace it with an iPod touch to get some solid state reliability I suppose if/when the iPod classic fails, or maybe just use my AMI - USB and plug in a memory stick if that works for MP3's and give track info etc.

Damn, it gets so complex, another option is to fit one of those Android screens which goes over the normal screen, but not sure if you still retain the same Audi-designed settings for sport, dynamic etc.
