Another niggle.
Intermittent, passenger door won't unlock so cant use outside door handle without first leaning over and pulling inside door handle.
Any thoughts
Steve

Re: Passenger door not unlocking
Are you sure it's intermittent? On my car, one press of the key fob unlocks just the driver's door, two presses unlock all the doors. I forget and use keyless 99% of the time so have to use the driver's door button to unlock the other doors if needed.

I know this sounds very silly, but with the gearbox in Park can you continually push on the gearstick, forward towards the dash, and then try locking then unlocking the car using the button on the drivers side door (the one which does all the car locks) and see what happens.
I had an issue years ago where the microswitch within the gearbox wasn't quite being made properly which caused all manner of lock/unlock issues with my doors. On mine the cable which runs from the gearstick switches to the gearbox was too tight post-rebuild and pulling the stick slightly away from the microswitch. After a little readjust the problem was fixed.
I honestly doubt its this issue for you but it's a very quick check just to confirm its NOT something which is just as helpful in fault-finding I think.

Re: Passenger door not unlocking
I had the same issue recently. However, it only happened with cold outside temperatures. The door lock problem is a VERY common problem on VAG cars (the web is full of reports) and it is caused because the electrical connectors of the electric motors inside the lock are not soldered to a cable anymore like in old times but rather plugged on two pins. Over the years, the spring like connectors inside the motors seem to loose electrical contact which results in intermittent malfunction. I removed the lock, opened the housing, dismounted the motors, compressed the springs in the motor a bit and used (no corrodive) contact spray. Since 3 years, no problem anymore.
Hope this helps.
