I think this is the problem with these cars they are very reliable so when something does give up most garages have never done that job on a C6. Plus they are few and far between. Not sure how many are in the UK but it's certainly not thousands.
The oil leak clearly not an engine out which may be good news for some owners

Well, it's just over a year since I bought mine and about a year since I discovered I had this problem ( 'misting' not a leak as Audi described it at the time to get out of a warranty claim)

I added Forte Seal conditioner to re-condition the seal. It was explained to me by Forte technical dept that as long as the seal hadn't already perished it would work.

The 'leak' 'mist' was cleaned up at the time and inspected over time as well as the oil level monitored.

I have had no further oil 'mist' or 'leak'.

It appears that the high heat level of this engine bay is the culprit, and in my opinion this is a safe and cheap option to keep on top of it.

I will stress that Forte said if the seal has already perished this will NOT work.

I have had the oil topped up by 250ml in the last few weeks by my mechanic who was fitting the Pheaton mod at the time, strictly it didn't require it (still being within the oil dipstick range) as it's getting serviced on 6th oct by MRC but he is extremely pedantic. So 250ml oil used in 1 year, 78000 mile engine. Can live with that.

I have had no further problems in my first year of ownership of anything on the car. Pretty bullet proof so far, touch wood.

I will add the Forte seal conditioner again at the service. £30 a year beats a £x thousand replace job....

Hi all, had my FASH 66,000 mile RS6 V10 Avant for just over a month and despite it having a major service at Audi just before I collected it from a premium car sales specialist is has an/‘the’ oil leak.

As I don’t trust Audi because it wasn’t picked up (they said “overall your cars in great condition”) I put it through an Audi specialist who we know very well and trust (we use on my mums TT.) This is what he said after inspecting my RS6 & none of this was mentioned to me by Audi nor the sales guy:

“The oil leak is from the tube that carries the drive to the oil distribution unit.

This job will require a major strip down to enable repair.

One of the oil drain plugs has been damaged when oil change carried out prior to you getting the car.

Anti roll bar drop links worn and have excessive play”

He won’t touch it and I’m not sure I have the confidence in Audi to do a thorough and proper job so…

Which garage is best to use in the UK?
