New car or re-map?

Post by Nosillad » Sat Dec 23, 2017 1:57 pm

I have been thinking of selling the RS6 for something new (just for the sake of getting a different car) but i need 4 seats and proper rears to fit young kids in so my list is relatively small.

Ive tried the V8 M3 and Nissan GTR but both left me feeling that the RS6 was a better car (for my needs) for less money. I have had an M5 and the C63AMG just doesn't do it for me.

I ideally want to spend 3-4k on top of my RS6 so 23-25k budget.

Question is for people who have moved on to something different what did you choose?

or

Do i take the cash an invest in a remap at somewhere like MRC, for those have have done this do you feel like you got your moneys worth and a better car back? or does the novelty wear off pretty quick?

Searching the forums MRC seems to be the preferred re-map but as its quite a hike does anyone have any better recommendations from around the Newcastle / North East?

pondering over Christmas so keen to hear people views.

CM Tuning in Leeds. Chris is ex MRC and uses their maps (officially).

I drove a mapped C6 when I was changing from a B7 RS4. It was very quick, but I felt it was too heavy and needed a lot of speed scrubbing off for the corners, so wasn’t really for me. As I needed more room I moved from a B7 saloon to Avant, which was the perfect choice for me.

Have you modded the C6 in any other way? I find the Audi’s need a bit of help with turn in and body roll so always do the ARB’s. I know there are a few C6 RS6 owners that have done the same, with great feedback, so maybe that’s an option along with the mapping to make it feel like a different car.

What else is there for £25k ish, given you’ve tried most of the likely competitors? Maybe a supercharged B7 if you can find one. Probably £28k ish.

I do like the GTR’s. Need to be stage 3 plus though.

I would invest in a remap the C6 when mapped is in a different league! 580 to 700+ is a big jump and you will certainly notice the difference. Yes a newer car is nicer as the C6 tech is dated but that V10 does make a strong case for itself.

No other mods at all at the moment. Did you find the RS4 to be much slower in real world terms than the C6, found myself looking longingly at Mike Fish’s old car this afternoon as I don’t need the size of the 6 anymore

Not in real world scenarios really. Obviously 750bhp and 1000nm torque is a lot in the C6, so straight line it will destroy almost anything on the road. The B7 will be quicker in the twisties, and there is something intoxicating winding an NA V8 out to over 8k rpm.

Have you looked at the E63 AMG Merc, thunderous when decatted and resonators deleted, obviously not as quick as a tuned C6 but still go like the clappers 👍

Good shout that actually. What are they going for? I took an E63s around Brooklands (in the dry) and it had an awful lot of grip and handled like a much smaller car.

Not driven the AMG so probably need to give that a go, but never really been a fan of the interior styling. Wondering if the smaller RS4 could be more up my street :?

How about aporsche panamera? Getting easier on the eye as they age and still a quick 4 door.

Fancy a purple b8? I might be tempted to sell in the new year. Itchy feet and all that.

I'd find the time to remap the C6. It's so much car and a great all rounder, hard to beat at that budget.

750HP won't get boring.

Wow I’m thinking of getting into a c6 from a b7 750bhp+ and over 1000nm that’s enough to make your stomach turn and make you sick. You won’t find anything like it mate believe me. Definitely take it to MRC I promise you will not regret it. Once mapped they’re pretty much supercar killers.

If the OP has what I am after we can actually work out a deal.

Will break my heart to let it go as i searched for almost a year to find mine and it ripped the life out of my wallet to make it what it is today!

Iv got a feeling once it’s gone il want to get back into one again in the future and il struggle to find another like it. Has anyone been in the same/similar scenario?
