Audi MMI 2g High SAT NAV - no voice

Hi can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. I can't seem to get the SatNav voice to shout up instructions at start, on route or ever.
I turned up the volume in the settings for Nav but the only time I can make her speak is when I press the bottom left menu for NAV Info whilst on route and she repeats the last direction quite clearly and at good volume yet nothing is offered automatically.
